Subject: My brother-in-law, Dave.
The project: Making him a MFT top.
The tools used: TS55, OF1400, LR32 system.
My brother-in-law Dave lives around the corner from me. So we see each other often. He's the first guy to come over and check out the newest Festool added to my shop.
He really likes the capabilities the MFT's have too offer. He (like many) didn't like the price that comes with the table. While he was over (months ago) I told him how easy it would be to build
a MFT top. The other day (Jan.1, 2014) we where out and about tool shopping he asked me if I would help him make a MFT top. So a stop at Home Depot for a couple sheets of 3/4" MDF
and a couple hours in the shop he made his MFT top.
I wanted Dave to handle 90% of the work. So he could get enjoyment of building the MFT top…..AND to let him use the Festool tools. He has been thinking about building a Festool
collection for a while, so what better way to push a guy sitting on the fence then to let him use the tools and appreciate the dust collection ! [tongue] [wink]
So long story short…..Dave got his MFT top, got to use a couple Festools and all he could say was "WOW, to easy" and "I love not breathing in the dust".
I snapped a couple photos with my cell phone to share the "special" moment. [big grin]

Like I said, Dave has been on the fence about buying a Festool tool. I think by him using my tools for a few hours pushed him over the fence.
He and I went up to a local woodworking store today that carries the Festool line of tools (well, most of them [mad]). They didn't have everything that he wanted….but he got a good start.
Today Dave is a proud new owner of the TS55 ! [big grin] [big grin] He has plans on buying a OF1400 and a sander or two !
So I'd say the easiest way to spread the word about Festool is to let the person use the tools for an hour or so….they'll see quickly the benefit of the dust collection!

edit: Shane, Peter or Seth…..sorry, but the last 2 photos didn't load the way I intended. Little help rotating them please? Thanks! This is my first time loading photos with my Mac….I need to learn where I can resize and rotate them. [embarassed]
