I know it sounds too simple, but hold your thumb over the mark one over from the one you want and it becomes very easy for even these 60 year old eyes to read.

i just made this modification myself.

Used two 1/2 x 10/32 thread pitch screws on each guide.  Two small washers under the plexi for each screw.  Tapped the holes but was careful to get them aligned.

Plexi I used was one of the tabs to Woodpeckers Story Stick Pro.  i took one of the tabs and cut it down with my bandsaw to make two guides.  Since I had the plexi I didn't need to buy separate though they sell separately - http://www.woodpeck.com/storystickpro.html

The plexi is thicker than what I've usually seen.  I did wrap the plexi in blue painters tape while cutting and sanding the edge it to prevent scratches.  Etched a line underneath and used a red sharpie to highlight the line a bit.

I know I am a bit late on this thread but ..... With the help of FOG member Windingo (who refined the "KEY" solution) last Nov, I first made some aluminum flaps to hold the PG's level with the stock I was cutting. Got my neighbor to help me with the boring and taping.

I also was having to really fuss to adjust the pointers to the scales - hard to see. I thought about the red marker (EROCK idea), but never got around to that, then I saw VictorL's solution and really liked that.

The plastic I used was the flat portion of a plastic Festool package from a quick clamp. I then scribed a line which I filled with black marker ink. This was a fun project and makes reading the scale easy.
