If you have morticed your treads into the stringers, why use dominos?

If you have morticed your treads into the stringers, why use dominos?

I like overkill? In all reality, I'm sure it was unnecessary but I do not ever want to have a problem with the stairs. Dominoes added a lot more gluing area and strength.

Really nice. Anybody have an opinion about weather or not the dominos would be enough without the mortified? Also are the treads open? Anything over 4" fails here.

The dominos would hold, but the stair tread would likely split at some point, so it's not a good idea.
