Stand for spraying

So my goal was to create a stand that would make my panels seem like they were floating in air, thus eliminating paint rebound when spraying drawer fronts, panels and doors. So I found an old home depot out feed stand that I have not used in years, put it on a rotating base that I can turn with my foot, created multiple and removable tops for it to accommodate different sizes. I used green tape so not to scuff the underside of the panels and if they ever get paint on them I remove and put on new tape.
Sorry for the quality of the photos, I used my iPhone and not my real camera.
Cheers,
JC

This is a great idea for that type of work. Thanks for sharing.

We have a pretty cool spare parts tripod design for smaller items, cabinet doors etc if you are looking to bootleg more finishing jigs!

Hi Scott,
I would be interested in seeing what you have come up with in terms of finishing jigs. Always looking for more/better ideas.
Cheers,
JC

The ones we use the most are turntables for small pieces so that we can spin them instead of the person spraying having to keep moving around them to get different angles. The first one we built from wood scrap and the second one from a halogen light tripod.

The next one I want to build is a door rotisserie designed by [member=4105]tjbnwi[/member]

Thanks for sharing. They look good. When I spray I found that if the table was larger then the piece I was spraying I was getting rebound of paint on the underside of the panel with elevated by pyramids. I like you first design with a pipe. I think I will steal that idea and create different sizes of table to fit on top that can quickly be screwed on the pipe.
Off to home depot to buy some piping.
Cheers,

Is this something vacuum clamping would fit well with?

Yes, the Vac Sys wold work well, but the price tag is beyond my snack bracket. Goal was to create a stand using scraps and not having to go to the store and spend money.

JC

Wouldn't work for me. I am usually spraying the other side within 2hrs. Most coatings are dry to the touch but still curing, the vacuum would creates too much pressure and the curing paint would stick to the pad.
I like these Jowi stands.

If you have an old chair around you could probably make one of these.

Shame you had to use that stand. They are pretty good.

I like the Jowi stand, the red one. Easy to make. I think this is something I can whip up.

Your right Tim. The stand is good. I was trying to see if it could serve as dual function. It would, but it would get dirty, so I decided to copy an idea from Scott's pictures and build a new one.
Cheers,

I was thinking I could get my metal fabricator to make one up for me from some drawings...but then it would probably cost me as much or more.
