Steel wool on a 90 FEQ

I am finishing a group of about 25 large bowls that have a really food figure in the wood, spalted Maple.  The finish is Mylands High Build Friction.  I am rubbing between coats with 4000 steel wool then wiping on a thin coat.

For efficiency, is putting the steel wool on my 0.5" thick foam pad then onto my 90 FEQ a decent idea?

Looking for help.

Welcome to the forum!  [smile]

Seems like the foam pad would keep any steel wool bits out of the sander, but that might be a concern? I guess the other thing would be if the pad would conform well enough to the shape of the bowl? And it might be hard to control  in Rotex mode on curved surfaces?

Probably not much help but those are my thoughts.
