Sticky LR 32 plunger/lever

So when using the LR 32 I’ve noticed the plunger that you push on to move the router has become very finicky and sticks. I sprayed it with some WD-40 but that does not seem to help. It’s a little dangerous to be fighting with the lever while the router is spinning.  I’ve looked at the knob on top of the lever and there does not appear to be a way to loosen it. Any thoughts?

I'd clean the wd40 off and use a different lubricant; wd40 isn't really a good lube. I like super lube; it's a good all around lube and a tube is pretty cheap.
