Stocking Consumables

OK - don't order on-line.  Pick up the phone, tell one of the good-guy dealers what you need, and relax.  You don't even have to look up the stocking numbers.  You don't have to leave your home or office.  In less than the time it took to write one of the posts in this thread, the stuff would be on its way.  Most of the time you will have exactly what you need in your hands faster than if you keep messing around with the local Woodcraft.  And you won't waste your time making two trips to Woodcraft to get your stuff - late.  I think it was my Mother that said, "Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, shame on me".  Yikes!

I'm glad there's at least one "dubya" that could get that saying right

I don't like to order anything.
I don't like calling and ordering something over the phone.
I do not use my cc on line or over the phone.

I want to write a check in person.

I don't even order pizza.

So you enjoy wasting time and money?  Geeze order your stuff and you won't even NEED the time saving aspect of festool!

Still not here yet but, I have figured out a way to ensure I can get things quickly.

I am just going to order a Kapex each time they have to order a few things.
That will end their whinning about paying S&H, then I will just keep returning the Kapex I ordered!! [big grin]

Seems logical to a slightly insane person.

I have been really wanting the Kapex so----- using your idea, if I keep ordering and returning, eventually they will forget to track if I returned it or not!!  :)

Not likely. Just a matter of time before I break down and purchase one. The longer the price increase holds off, the longer I can as well.  [unsure]

Consumables - just internet order!!!!!!

I gave up on woodcraft today.  I guess I am a tool/consumable ordering guy now.

It was not getting a returned call from the owner after I left her a message this morning, that pretty much sealed the deal.

Maybe she didn't get the message.  I had a guy call me about a project I'm planning several days ago, and for some reason I didn't get the message until someone else left me a message and made it evident.  Perhaps there is some explanation other than blowing you off?

I know the guy that answered the phone told her to call me.
I have know the owners for at least 15 years or more.

I just think businesses should be trying a little harder to keep a person's business.
The lumber yard around the corner does a great job of keeping me buying materials there.

I am being very diligent in returning my customers phone calls and keeping in touch any way I can.

I appreciate any work/business I am doing right now.

Just my view.

Who cares how old the person was, what shirt they were wearing, the number of tatoos and piercings, what they ate for lunch etc.

They don't stock your goods, only care about big ordes and the last straw was they didn't call you back.  Welcome to the wonderful world of ordering online.

I went through the same thing with a large low-voltage distributer...I now do very little business with them.

The world economy is about sharing risks.  Vendors who used to stock many products now can not get the financing to do so.  We need to adapt just like they have.  Or maybe we should get used to paying more for the ability to pick things off the shelf.  The convenience factor.

I am not saying that is the way it should be.  I am saying that is the way it is and possibly will be.

But Woodcraft is a huge franchise, something is off somewhere.

In my opinion for a really good repeat customer, eat some shipping to make them happy.

Shipping is pretty quick and cheap from Lebanon to Fort Wayne.

Hey, Inner...

Facts vs. stories.  What do we know about what happened to Warner at Woodcraft?  Nothing.  All we've heard is stories, and only on the Warner side.  We don't have any facts on the Woodcraft side.  That owner of Woodcraft could have had a family emergency or the kid could have not given the person the message.  At least give the people the benefit of the doubt.  Now if he talked to the owner herself and was blown off, that's a different story...

They Have forgot to order things before or were trying
to wait on more things to order, without letting me know.

Oh well, poop happens.

Customer service varies at each Woodcraft store.  That's why some are more successful than others.  John is right in that we don't know everything that happened.  Darcy's comment is also correct in that some stores will wait to order from their distribution center until they have a large enough order so as to reduce their per unit shipping costs. I have gone to my local Woodcraft and found something not in stock and asked about getting it shipped.  Usually I am given the opportunity to either order it for arrival on their next shipment at no shipping cost, or basically order it there thru their catalog and pay the shipping cost.

If the store doesn't do a high enough volume, their orders from distribution might be fewer in frequency.  I know that when I walk thru a Woodcraft store I have come for a reason, but then after I pick up what I want, I wander around looking for something else that just catches my eye.  Instant gratification does play a role in some of my shopping decisions.

I know that the local Rockler is sending back a bunch of Festool consumables and accessories because supposedly they are not selling enough of them and they take up too much valuable retail space.  It is the #1 Rockler retail store in the nation too, and the manager and many other employees are Festool junkies.

Maybe your Woodcraft is feeling similar pressure on ordering Festool consumables.  Without demand the Corporate buyers are just not placing the orders and keeping things stocked.

John I will agree with you on that note, but the impression I have gotten is that they are not offering a satisfactory level of service.  A consumable is merely a commodity, especially if it is a priced fixed one such as something from Festool.  If the location cannot provide you any value-added level of service compared to another non-local business why not order from them instead?

There could have been something happen that got in the way of his call not being returned and a mistake here and there is acceptable.  We are all humans and run into problems and must deal with them, but if I find myself unsatisfied with the service provided (that is they refuse to bring in a product because they will be stuck with a minimum order) I take my business elsewhere.

Maybe I will like this whole packages showing up on my door step thing.

I just ordered floor finishing supply's tonight, I feel alive!!!

Oh, thanks Bob.
