i just experimented with these

http://www.numatic.co.uk/accessories5.aspx?id=768

and they seem to work fine in my festool midi extrator. I might need to mod the inside of the extractor to optimise how they work but at ?6.99 for 10 im sure i can do that. I will give it a proper test tomorrow and i have only half filled it with mdf dust at the moment and it neds to be full for a proper test to see if the bag fils the space or if i need to reduce the space slightly.

I will need to make the inlet a tad smaller aswell as it only just goes on (i found this after filed the bloody thing with mdf) but a bit of 2" waste pipe reducer dowm to 1"1/2 should do that.

i will post the results tomorrow

I've read on some other forum that you can get 3 or 4 uses out the bags by simply cutting the bottom open with a utility knife, emptying them, then folding them over at the cut, putting on some duct tape, and clipping the fold with one of those black paper-binder type clips to make sure it stays shut. I haven't tried it yet (only got my vac a couple weeks ago - but seems like it'd work. Given how mush surface area the bag has in a vac that size, I can't imagine it'd affect the suction very much.  (I know, it's a little ghetto, but... whatever!)

Anyone have any luck with that?

OTOH, that Dust Deputy thing by Oneida seems like the best option for not buying a lot of bags...

Cheers,
Chris

the hea bags should improve suction over paper bags and improve filtration. you would have to empty a festool bag 5 time to be ceaper than these. Dustdeputy ooks good but means i would have to go outside to empty it

well i used 10 bags today and went pretty well. I just need to extent the inlet about 2" so when the bag fills up it doesn't slip down as it exposes about 1/4 of outlet when it does. the bags did lose suction towards filling but i put that down to sucking dust up out the roof space(you know the finest horrible black dust)

Then I would certainly get a cyclone or separator.  And maybe a coat for when you go outside to empty.  [big grin]

cyclone/seperator not good 5 scaffold lifts up long way to the skip. I use  midi so no reusable bags

Still full bags to carry down so y not have a roll of bin bags to empty reusable bag into bin bags very cheap!! Also you can put your of cut wood into toin bag b save trips to the skip! ?!?!?!

Personaly if your on a scaffold Id properly wouldnt be using a Vacuum for dust. Let the wind take it.

I just received, set up and used the Oneida Dust Deputy for Festool this weekend. Seemed to work really well but I've only got about 4 hours on it so far. The cost of the bags and the pain to swap them out made me decide to buy it. Only thing that bugged me is that I have the Festool vacuum nozzle set in the systainer and I can not keep it on top of the vacuum any longer.

That's what bugged me too.  I keep my vac accessories in a Sort-4 and want that below the cyclone.  That's how I have my ClearVue cyclone now.  But I'm not sure what I'll do for my second CT...

i was up the scaffold vacumming dust from the roof ready for woodworm treatment and being as its a old reed and plaster ceiling there is alot. i would only use maybe 1 bag a day but this was a good test

I just empty my Midi bags and re use them.

Those Henry bags you posted the link for are great, a women that I just built a house for had some in the cupboard and I used one with my Henry and I couldnt believe the difference in suction and they can be emptied as well, they are very tough and have no inner liner like most bags so no worry of tearing the inner liner while emptying. I just whack my workshop vac into the full bags and it sucks all the dust out then you have an empty bag to go back in the Henry.

im still consideing just using a henry with a festool hose as it has loads more suction than my festool midi and takes up less room

Are this bags big enough for the CT22?

Each size CT has its own specific bag.  Kind of a bummer if you consider upgrading or getting a second.

For example, I want to get a CT22, but there are efficiencies in getting another Midi (bags, filters, etc)...  oh decisions decisions..

I have a mini and a 22 now and I love how they compliment each other, giving me options in functionality. I love how easy it is to take the mini with me on foot and bike, and I love the stronger suction of the 22 when I need it.

i guess it depends what you suck up in your vac but I have reused my ct22 bag many many times.  I only use it for sawdust and I can empty it no problems with a thin stick.  it goes right into my dumpster and I have a bag that is ready to be used again.  I have had my CT22 for years, and while it doesn't get used every single day.  I am still on my ORIGINAL BAG that came with the vac.  no way would i be buying a new bag at those prices every time it filled up.

i suck up all sorts with mine. Also my work is in schools so cant empty in their bins.
