Strange little detail in the directions

The table widener for the OF1400 showed up on Monday, but I wasn't there to get it. I took it out and looked at it yesterday, but forgot to take a picture.
It's very straight-forward, not really needing directions, but I assume they feel obligated  [big grin]
Anyway, the directions are essentially just step by step pictures. The curious part is where you remove the original plate. The pic clearly shows you to throw the original screws in the trash  [eek]
That just blew my mind. Why would they do that? Even if a guy was never going to put the old plate back, why throw them away? I will definitely put it back, probably after each use, it won't go back in the Systainer with it on.

Well, given the size of the mesh on that garbage can, the screws will likely still be on the floor
