Stuck Sortainer drawer

I suspect my 18 gauge pins are sticking up and not allowing one of drawers to open, except about a 1/2 inch. Anyone "fixed" this problem before or have any ideas on how to remedy this situation? [sad]

If everything else - except the bigger hammer - doesn't work, I have had success using a flexible metal ruler from the back to move stuff around in the drawers until they opened.

This is why I no longer use my Sortainers for smaller parts.

I have been able to get a jammed drawer to open by sliding a 1" putty knife into the top of the drawer while simultaneously and repeatedly opening and closing the drawer, also employing Russell's method of shaking.

I'm afraid that I have not found an elegant way around this situation.

If at first it you don't succeed, get a bigger hammer

:)

I have used the above methods to open stuck drawers.  BE GENTLE!!  I had some 3" screws get stuck and pushing harder from the back just embedded the offending screw deeper in the plastic above the drawer.  I bought a 6-drawer systainer for the longer screws and do not pack the drawers to the rim anymore.

'Glad you got it fixed, Ron!

The first thing I do, when I receive Sortainers from Festool, is to check the drawers. Believe it or not, the packets of drawer dividers that come with every Sortainer can cause them to get stuck.

In the event that a drawer is stuck because something lodged against the drawer and the ceiling above, I can only offer the advice of fairly crisp impact on something like padded carpet, one's thighs, or a padded chair/couch in all directions, while working the drawer back and forth as far as it currently travels.

Those plastic packets that the dividers come in are the worst - I've loaded drawers up with screws and they come loose easier full of screws than those divider packets.
