Stunning hand-tool collection on auction in New Zealand

The Studley box is a work of art, but it has one major drawback, at least for most of us. It has a bunch of piano repair/tuning/building tools that are so specific to that trade, that they are useless.

The Studley Chest is of the quality that should only be in a museum in my opinion. As mentioned, many of the tools are so specialized and with the specialized holding and placement requirements, a lost or damaged tool would ruin the uniqueness of the entire set/cabinet. I wouldn't want that in my home on display for fear that the conditions wouldn't be perfectly correct and the case would crack or a speck of rust would develop. And of course I don't like dusting that much.

Gorgeous table!

May I enquire why you chose the slide-in-drawer approach instead of /more of/ just shallow drawers?

Was it aesthetics, some practical consideration, or just a 'why-not' repurposing after the act?

Thanks Mino.

Honestly, my intention was to have one drawer for the favoured few. However, the choices multiplied and then it was necessary to figure a way to fit them. The double drawers (slides) was the solution.

Best wishes for the festive season

Yeah Derek I really like the double drawer concept. I have had them in a few of the drawers in my Sysport row and in the miter saw cabinets. It's a great way to increase capacity.
