So... dumb question. I have one of the limited edition Festool blue sys-2s. Does tanos make a sys-1 in the same color? Is “saphire blue” close? Anyone know?

Hi [member=63929]AtomicRyan[/member] -

I've not seen the Festool Limited Edition Blue in person, so bear that in mind with what I'm about to write.
I looked at the picture on line.  To me it doesn't look like Sapphire Blue or the Blue Tanos systainers I have seen in person.  This Festool blue looks more dark grey blue to me.

Anyone else seen both in person?

I just got a sapphire blue from Systainer store. It's REAL close in color.... Here are some pics I just took because I happened to have both in front of me....

Thanks! It houses my Bosch 12 volt flexi click nicely with the kaizen foam! Literally just out the drill in ten minutes before I saw this thread so it was right there lol. Convenient!

Oh man. Thank you so much.

@AtomicRyan my pleasure. Like I said I happened to have both in front of me so the timing couldn't have been better.

To me they look so close that  the difference could simply be a different batch or maybe the Sys - I has had some fading (display unit?) .

@SRSemenza could be. The sys1 was from Tim's scratch and dent sale. That's definitely a possibility. The top does have a small. Wear spot where it's a bit lighter.

How do they compare on the bottom, inside, or under the handles?

Great discussion.

I thought (erronously) that these would be really dark navy like the last special editions :  the cooltainer and pro5.    [sad]

I took some more pics as [member=1619]SRSemenza[/member] asked. Minor differences in the shade of blue, but could be because the Sys 1 was a floor model from Systainer Store and the Sys 2 was new from Tool Nut.

Wow - these are closer than I thought.
I don't think the floor model has any fading of sort.  That is, they were rotated inventory versus left outside.

Yeah they're almost identical. Maybe SOME fading. I had two more pics, but I think they were too large when I posted. Let me try posting from Tapatalk vs my computer. Maybe Tapatalk can shrink these pics down automatically....

Hi guys - I just talked with Tanos USA.  The word from Germany is that the colors are similar, but not the same.  I didn't get exact color formulas to say how similar.  The pics say a lot and I'm glad [member=68391]PeterJJames13[/member] posted them.

There must have been two kinds of limited edition systainers. The one PRO 5 came in was almost black. I don't have it any more, but there is plenty of pics on the web.

For your inspection Svar...a Pro 5 Systainer and a "Special" Systainer from TN. The Pro 5 Systainer is definitely black.

Here's another shot of the guard for the Pro 5 sitting on the Pro 5 Systainer. If you look closely you'll notice a difference in color, it's tough to point it out because the shades are subtle.

However, in this shot it becomes obvious that the original Pro 5 Systainer was indeed black. Here it's compared to a black Systainer for an Origin.
