Stupid question time! Why would you buy a cordless Carvex?

Effective dust collection on jig saws that doesn’t impede maneuverability is a pipe dream.

I switched to barrel grip and cutting from underneath.

Cordless is best for maneuvering.

and visibility. the dust shroud on the jigsaw is cool but it would have to be made from precision optic glass and have LEDs inside

Still makes me wonder why they seem to have given up on the corded Vecturo.

The corded Vecturo is still part of their 2019 product line. It just no longer has a Plug-It power cord.

The word 'vecturo' does not occur once in the Dutch 438 page 2019 Festool catalog (PDF). Neither do it's associated numbers 575351 and 575352. The headers can still be found on both Dutch an German Festool websites, but clicking them will redirect to a general product categories overview page.

The product pages have also been removed from most dealer webshops. To me that's a pretty solid indicator it's gone down the memory hole.

The accessory systainer with a set of blades was also sold at rockbottom pricing last year.

Well, quoting directly from Festool's pdf of their current 2019 product line, for the OS 400 they list these options:
US 120V...575357 & 575358
GB 240V...575353 & 575354
?? 230V...575351 & 575352

The cordless versions all have a prefix of OSC not OS.

Here's the 575357;https://www.bobmarinosbesttools.com/product.asp?pn=575357

Here's the 575353:https://www.ffx.co.uk/tools/product...3-240V-Vecturo-Oscillating-Multifunction-Tool

And here's the 575351:https://www.toolnation.nl/festool-5...lerende-multitool-5-jaar-dealer-garantie.html

That's all i know...

OK, I was making a funny, or so I thought.

I said hoseless, meaning no hose between the tool and the vac. So 100% of the dust would miraculously be transported from the tool to the vac. An impossibility today but maybe in the 24th century. :-)

No, I’m talking about this part of the statement.

“The new cordless Vecturo will replace the current corded one completely. Sadly the old mounting plate for the accessories like the plunge base is not compatible with the new tool.”

Don't underestimate the power of lasers.  Vaporize your problems away.

In the 24th century they could have molecular saws... no dust!  Just parts the wood like magic.
Or maybe they will be able to 'grow' wood into whatever shape they want.  Furniture trees!

Back to the original discussion, I have a cordless barrel grip Carvex and really like it.
I started with a corded D handle Carvex and didn't like the grip.  Decided to switch to the barrel and right about that time I got a T18 so I had batteries.  Decided cord free would be super handy with a jigsaw and it is!  I can walk out somewhere on my property and not have to drag a cord.  I can cut tight details on a project and not have a cord in the way.
About the only time I use a hose on the jigsaw is when I'm cutting something inside the house.  Otherwise, the mess doesn't bother me enough to mess with the hose.  Dust extraction is great but it's not a great adaptation for every tool or every application.
