Suggestion for the Classified Ads Section

Just buy new - problem solved. The price that used Festool's go for is idiotic and nobody in their right mind should buy a 3 year old tool for 75%+ of the brand new price.

You are so right.

Yea, I generally expect deeper discounts on used out of warranty products especially if I can get the same thing new.

Simple idea -

At the top of Classifieds include a sticky for guidelines:

'Please use the format for ad listings - Item Location - Item Description - Price'

That would be a reminder and once people saw a few items listed in that format they'd pick up on it and it would be easier to scan...

Intercontinental shipping used goods usually dosn't make much sense, thus it would be nice if the Classified section could be split into continental ones, at least America (maybe North and South separated), Europe (England and continental separated, as of different plugs), Australia. (no idea about the rest)

That would seem like the best plan, if folks can't be persuaded to put their location in the listing title.  That is, of course, if the FOG values its non US member base and wants to expand it.

Sorry Spiff, and others - but I take a different view.

If you want a discount , you're going to have to earn it.  After all a discount is why you're perusing these adds. Those stores you mention don't send out a flier or have a real time inventory check to let you know they have a TS55 or a stabila 600 on the shelf for you to come by and "discover".

Besides the ads two pages back or more are dead anyway. Sold or moved on.  If you aren't willing to look at a few pics to tell a plug is N. American 110v or that if the seller is looking for $, he's not in the UK - then I think you're just being a tad lazy. Sure , it'd be easier to have more info for you, but at what cost yo others as Peter points out.

Also, Festool is not running a garage sale here. I doubt they care whether the secondary market is easy to navigate for participants. They want to sell new tools, period.

[summary mine]
Currently (as being outside the US) I would not even think about posting something to the classifieds as most likely noone locally interested would ever look at it. Also no point for me to spend the time on browsing the section, since even if I would see something that might interest me it'll most likely be on the other side of the world. In case there would be a localized version I would let the board send me notifications about new threads.

Not because of being cheap, my budget simply isn't unlimited.
And at times I even like to even repair defective stuff.

Then I wonder why the section exists in the first place.

Well, suggestion is made - either they act on it or not.

As a courtesy.

Most owners groups had them back when this group was created.

A p-mail to the poster only takes a few seconds.  Less time then it takes to browse a store full of dusty shelves.
