So, who's as excited as I am that the Steelers are going to win the Super Bowl??  [tongue] Just having some fun, good luck to both teams especially the Packers, they're going to need it.

I'm not the world's biggest fan of American Football, but I have been known to watch it occasionally.

I've been wondering for the last few days who will be showing it over here - it used to be on Channel 4, but I thought Sky had bought it (in which case I wouldn't be able to watch it). I've just looked at the schedules however, and discovered that it's now on the BBC, so I'll be staying up late to watch it (it finishes at 4:05am, UK time!).

[big grin]

On this side of the pond we are more excited about the Six Nations Rugby tournament.

Rugby is in some ways similar to American football but without all that girly padding!! [tongue] [tongue]

Plus, we manage to fit 80 minutes of play into less than 6 hours! [tongue]

Boy it sure sounds as I watch the national sports reporters this morning that no one wants to give the Steelers any respect.....Watching  the ESPN program  the Sports Reporters they might as well not play the game because they already have Green Bay winnning........GO STEELERS.....................................

As a NY Jets fan for far too long - go Steelers!

Go Commercials!

Maybe next year we will see Kreg in a commercial!  [big grin]

I live in Plano, a northern suburb of Dallas, and it has been crazy here, even with the ice and snow.  Tickets between the forties have been going for $20k plus.  A suite will set you back $350,000.  Corner endzone, in the nosebleed areas are $2000.  Jerry doesn't get a dime of of it.  He does, however, own half the concessions and a bunch of pizza joints.  I was working out the other day at my health club and a former NFL'r was sitting next to me in the locker room saying he has 4 tickets and no desire to go.  I should have taken them off his hands!  [tongue] [tongue] [tongue]  I would have had to go get a mortgage to do it, tho...

My oldest son has played rugby the past two years. Fun to watch. But a lot of the kids get hurt, he had a concussion.

As for the Super Bowl, ah, I don't care who wins. Who can respect teams without cheerleaders?!  [huh]

"Who can respect teams without cheerleaders?!"

Wow, I thought their was a recession in the states and people are paying $20K for tickets.

I am going to enjoy the game in a neutral fashion. I'll be wearing a "Green Jersey" simply cause I am a "Saskatchewan Roughriders" fan and cause my cousing plays for them as well. So it'll look like I am cheering for Green Bay but in the end I just want a good close game

Hope you all have fun at your parties and remember not to drink and drive

Cheers
Dan

No cheerleaders  [scared]  whats that all about ?

My 8 year old & 6 year old both play rugby.  At his last tournament he got carried off three times injured but went back on every time  [smile]  I did have to bribe him the last time though  [tongue]

Thats crazy money for tickets.  I presume the ordenary Joe cant go to these type of events then ?

No question rugby is a man's sport and only well and truly fit young lads are able to go pro.  But, professional American football players are freaks of nature in size and speed.  If they didn't wear pads they would kill themselves on the field.  I can tell you it is not believable until you see it close up, in person just how fast a 300 lbs. offensive linemen is, the 210 lbs. wide receivers or defensive backs are just a blur as they run by.....

Brice I hear you, but Google Jonah Lomu and watch that guy, 6 foot 5 inches 276lbs, and could cover 100m in about 10.5 seconds.

Anyway I hope the Superbowl is a good game, hard fought, a true contest of the best, and may the best team win!!

I agree with you that rugby is a much better sport than American Football -or even than Canadian Football.

I supose i could google it but are there any American Rugby teams ?  I supose it must be played there as Shanes son played it but is it like our football (socker), played but not near as popular.
