Surfix 5 Liter Containers Don't Pour Well

I enjoy using the Surfix Outdoor Oil. I am on my 6th project and have a few more to go. Doing the math, I bought the 5 Liter container and thought to refill the 0.3L bulbs. The oil is fine, the 5L container doesn't work well. After filling about half of the 0.3L bulb, the flow slows down to a crawl. I have to stop the flow and unscrew the cap of the 5 Liter bottle and re-screw it to get a decent flow. Surely with the genius design folks at Festool, someone can re-design a 5 L container of oil to work better. Just saying...

As a workaround for your issue I would drill/punch a small hole behind the handle to let the air in whilst filling the smaller bottles. Make sure the hole is close to the top (when storing the container upright). Keep the hole covered with tape when storing the container. I agree there should be an air-vent like on larger containers.

You are probably using the container the wrong way around (as most people do)
How strange it may sound, you should have the outlet sprout to be the most upper part and poor from there.

I have learned this from an old guy years ago, and every time I use a jerry can I do it like this with no spill and a constant flow.
This way there will be no vacuum in the jerrycan to stop the flow
People at the gas station stair at me as I refill my wind screen wiper fluid with ease and no spill and without

NKL-mikkla is correct about the better way to pour - The same technique applies other types of containers, too.

It is lack of not having air replace the liquid as it pours out of the container. With the spout at the bottom and all the liquid above the spout there is no way for air to easily enter the carton. As the liquid flows out a vacuum is created and when the vacuum is strong enough it will suck in are even if it has to break the flow or liquid and when the liquid starts to flow again instead of being an slow build up it just slams out of the container.

Some containers resolve this with a sealable vent hole opposite the spout. If that is not possible one could insert a small tube through the spout so it extends above the liquid to let air vent into the container or put the spout at the top and pour slowly enough so the spout is never sealed or covered by the pouring liquid.
