I have heard it said that when you get your track saw get a holy rail with it instead.  Can you just switch and upgrade to whichever rail you want?  If this can be done can it be done with the mft?  can you put longer rails on an mft?  to rip and 8' sheet with a TS75 how much rail does one need?

I believe that swapping rails with the purchase of a plunge saw is something that is left up to each dealer.  Swapping out the rail that comes with the MFT is a more difficult proposition, as it is packed with the MFT so your dealer would have to open the package or you would have to return the rail.  Anyway, this is something that you will have to ask your dealer directly.

An MFT will accept the supplied rail across the short dimension, or the 55" rail across the long dimension.  Additionally, you can connect two MFTs and use the 75" rail to span the two tables.  This assumes you want to use the rails on the MFT while mounted in the MFT's guiderail support brackets.  To make an 8' cut with the TS75 you would need the FS3000/2 guide rail.

Switching guide rails which are part of a set or deal is entirely up to the dealer involved. In the case of the MFT/3, the 42" rail is packed inside the main carton, meaning that needs to be opened so the dealer could retrieve that rail. Then the dealer would not have a normal 42" rail carton to provide to another customer.

When you buy a TS55 or TS75 a guide rail in a carton is part of the deal: for the TS55 it is a 55" 1400mm rail; for the TS75 it is a 75" 1900mm rail.

Way back when Festool offered the Holy rails in 42" and 95" 2424mm lengths. Currently the choice is 55" or 95"  I purchase a lot of Festools from my primary dealer. So as I added TS55 to my tool supply, in advance I told my dealer what I needed by way of rails. This way the dealer could order those. Of course I paid the difference in price.

My guess is that most dealers do not stock the 95" holy rail. Now that Festool sells the 55" Holy rails and the LR32 coupler, probably the 95" Holy rail is even less frequently stocked by local dealers.

The 2700mm 108" rail is the absolute minimum to make a 96" cut using a TS55, and doing so requires practice. The 3000mm 118" rail make ripping 96" with a TS55 easier. That 3000mm rail is enough to make that rip with a TS75, but you will not have much extra length.

My dealer switched the 42 rail that came with the MFT for a 55. He opened the carton but kept the 42 box that was in the MFT package and substituted for a 55 in the box, so he still had a 42 box to sell with the 42, although it was thicker for the following reason: . A word of caution: If your dealer does that for you,  he will need to open the 42 rail box in the MFT carton since that is where they pack the fence for the MFT and he will have to remove the fence and give it to you.
