I thought I'd share some pics of my first attempt to subdivide a systainer for use at work. I work in the film and television industry and am brainstorming how to start using systainers to house all the camera equipment I regularly use. I'm also working out some ideas to create a 4 wheeled cart to transport all the systainers. Likely an 80/20 build as I've had good luck with it in the past.

Anyhow, here are some photos of the first of many systainers to join my collection. I built a tiny sys-az shelf that will live on the bottom of my camera cart until I design my new cart that will be customized for systainers. I've got five other systainers that are currently empty and awaiting an interior makeover.

I've taken lots of inspiration recently from this forum after first learning about Tanos. Thanks to everyone that has posted photos their projects in the past! I love seeing how people customize systainer interiors, feel free to share your interiors too!

    What are the dividers you are using?

    Does the plywood piece just keep things in place?

Hi Seth,

Thanks for the welcome!

The plywood is a place to add some pen and sharpie storage, I need to find a nice option for holding 5 or 6 pens, maybe a tool holder. I will likely rivet to the plywood. I also considered covering it in velcro and sticking whatever small items up there that might need a home in the future. We'll see.

The dividers are ABS plastic sheet (1/8" thick), we use a lot of it in the film industry for all kinds of arts and craft projects. I found some drawer divider extrusion at Lee Valley and that's what I used to hold the plastic sheet in position. I cut the extrusion on my table saw crosscut sled.

Oh man, that extrusion looks excellent! In both 1/8" and 1/4". That would have made, and will make adding dividers  much easier.

Yeah it worked really well. I'm curious to see if the double sided tape holds up, it seems pretty strong. I used 3 x 24" lengths of extrusion to do this project, used far more than I anticipated, the 1/8" saw kerf doesn't help with all the little cuts I suppose.

I've seen that extrusion before - never knew where it was sourced. You can do some really tidy mitred inner corners, etc for a great fit.

Hey Aaron,

I love the organization.  A place for everything!

Have you considered a thin hand saw (with mitre box) for cutting the extrusion to length? It would be fast, quiet and less wasteful.

    Some type of slicing cutters or a utility knife would save the kerf waste. It would take a little more time but the extrusions could be in two shorter  piece, top and bottom of each connection , leave the center out to save quite a bit of it.

  If the two sided tape fails, then PVC/ABS cement or maybe super glue (depending on the extrusion plastic) will do the trick.
