Hey guys, since I started to go Festool I can't help but try and organise all my other tool bags or boxes into some form of systainer. They all stack neatly on the job and easy to load up when transporting. Compartamalisation! Im sure its some form of OCD.
So for fathers day I got an empty sys4,
I had a small irwin tool tote for all my chisels, planes, marking stuff that I would use most often when on site. I got straight to it and printed out the templates then marked out spaces for each tool.
Ive removed some of the tools to see the type of slots I made
I used scrap 9mm ply that I had lying around and routed all the holes, I started with small fences for the router to run against but I'm impatient so I done them free hand. It turned out well and I have in it: 1 set of beveled edge chisels, 36 collings mitre clamps and 2 clamp pliers, one stanley #4 plane, stanley block plane and a stanley 90 bullnose plane, 2 coping saws, rubber mallet, 1 mortice chisel, 2 pairs of longnose pliers, 1 oil stone, 1 glass cutter, 1 trend corner chisel, tajima plumbob, 2 measuring rules, angle finder, 1 marking gauge, tin snips, 3 nail punches and a few screwdrivers.
The thing I was wanting to add was a bit for drill bits, they are hard to fit in when everything is slotted in from the top. I suppose I could hold all my drill bits in a sortainer of some sort or just add a sys 1 with an insert to the top of this.
Anyway, Im happy the majority of hand tools I need on site are all in one place and able to stack with my other systainers.
