Hi, i've been reading that the new sys combi was designed so you can keep the tool and its accessories in one go. Anyone done it? i'm thinking of doing it for my ets, rts and ro90 and their abrasives in as few systainer as possible..

Tanos/Festool really should come out with Sys-Drawer units that are one, two, or three drawers that latch on to the bottom of any Systainer.  No combi systainer needed.  I would rather not replace all of the systainers that came with my tools.  The tool systainers are already appropriately labeled on the outside and have the lid diagram.  So, it is just a waste to have to buy sys combi units.  I do not want a bunch of empty tool systainers laying around either.

Now RobBob, where's the fun in that....We switched our Classic Systainers over to T-Locs, and now we get to swap Tool/Machine T-locs for something else.... [wink] [wink] [wink]
I agree that it would be crazy to have to swap things every few years, so maybe the people at Tanos will hear your pleas/complaint and make that 1 or 2 drawer add-on as you asked for.  [scratch chin]

Yea, i would have loved that too. The closest thing that can achieve such modularity would be have all the abrasives in one, and then clip it on top of whichever tool systainer you choose to use at any given time. so you would lift the bottom tool systainer to retrieve your tool and then the abrasives (which you would change more frequently) can be assessed easier.

I have my T18 and my Bhc 18 in a sys combi 2. It works great - and I love being able to get to my drill and bits when the systainer is in a stack. I usually get out the machines at the start of the day,  and the the drawer is my go to throughout the day.

I recently purchased a few Sys-combi, to be honest I don't see a lot of benefit to them. 
A Sys-combi III is the same height as a Tloc 3 + a Tloc 1, weighs 0.4kgs more, and the drawer holds less than the Tloc1. 
Cost for Tloc1+Tloc3 is pretty much the same price as a Sys-Combi as well.

I could see some use for a SYS-Drawer module, could probably make one from the top and bottom sections of the new Tloc Sortainer, but it would end up around 142mm high for only a single drawer of storage.
Maybe if it was like the Sortimo LS-Boxx with removable cases it might be worth doing.

Valid point, but most of the time I like to take my tools out of the systainer, but keep my consumables close at hand.  If the Sys-Combi works for you, go for it, I'm still going to use mine but I'm a little underwhelmed. 

Was surprised that the Tloc1+Tloc 3 was lighter than a Sys combi, that fact that I can hold more in the Tloc 1 and have access to different inserts was just a bonus. 
I don't wheel my systainers around in big stacks so no real benefit to the drawer, and it only takes a few seconds to unlatch a Tloc 1 from a Tloc3.

As for the math, Tloc 1 internal dimensions = 7.8L, sys-combi drawer = 6.2l.  Even worse when you consider the hard to reach part at the back of the drawer.

That is true, but as in my case, with a sander and its accessories, abrasives, i can put the lighter sys1 abrasives box on top of the sander systainer, then you can open the abrasives lid easily. Besides, you open your abrasives lid a lot more often than the tool systainer anyway.

    I look at the sys combi and the new drawer unit as additional options in the line up. I have things that will work well  in them and things that are better in either a systainer or the old style drawers. They are both still pretty new products. Could be that more options will be added down the road. Such as drawer units in different sizes.

The Bosch Sortimo system really is the best I've seen for organizational options. The Festool T-loc systainer is my favorite "box" but I really wish Festool would have similar add-on options like Sortimo does. Someone already mentioned the handle removable cases that Sortimo offers and I have two of those myself, much better than having to add another lboxx outright or systainer outright and having to lift either up. With the add-on shelves and removable trays or cases, the fluidity of the Sortimo system really shines.

Now to find a provider who ships white Sortimo to the states!

Here's a SYS-Combi 3 for an OF 1010. Normal stuff in the box, but in the drawer section are standard length guide rods, fine adjuster, template guides, router bits, pencil, spare MFS parts & screwdriver and an offset guide bushing cheat sheet with room for more.

what did you do to the systainer that came with the o1010?

I used it for storing plumbing fittings. A lot nicer than the 3 old coffee cans they were in. A lot easier to sort through and find the fitting you need.  [smile]

Nice one @cheese. I've been contemplating doing that - as my of1010 is usually buried by router bits. Gets a bit annoying.

Also,  I hope Festool will start offering accessories in the drawer format. The installers kit would be great in a drawer instead of in its own sys-1. Drill bits,  router bits etc.

I think the main advantage of the sys-combis are in stacks. For me it really minimizes the stacking/unstacking throughout the day. For some reason the systainer you need is always way down on the bottom.

I do agree that they are really heavy, but every time I open a drawer,  I smile...

I have really been liking my 3 drawer. I got one to try it out and it really holds a lot of stuff and is much easier to use than the older style Sortainers. I put my LR32 and MFS stuff in one drawer and then use the other two for MFT clamps and common marking/measuring stuff, safety glasses and some drill accessories. Still thinking things through, but I can see adding a couple of more of these in the future. I have not gone with the combi yet, but it would be very useful for drills and the jigsaw with blades, etc... The router is another great option. I am thinking about my OMT as well as I need something to organize all the blades for it.

I just got a Sys 3 Combi.  For me it was a perfect solution to consolidate my MFT3 parts, clamps and fence brackets in the top and my true 32 tapes and rules, Parf dogs and clamp parts in the drawers.  This way I have one box to look in for just about anything I need.  I really like that it holds the Miter head and both rail guides for the table (not shown in pic) as I seldom use the miter head after I learned how to set the table up and optimize the use of dogs for speed and accuracy.  I especially find the drawer useful when other units are stacked on top.
