SYS-Storage

I recently purchased the SYS-Storage Systainer 499901. I needed somewhere to put a bunch of spare parts and random accessories. This seemed to be the perfect solution. As far as this primary function goes, it worked great. The only thing that I wasn't able to fit in there were the FS-Rapid clamps. They were too big. I guess you can't win them all. I do wish it came with more storage containers, but once Festool stocks them as accessories I will pick some up. The only real complaint I have is the overall size. The box is the same height as a SYS-2. The handle sticks up above and I thought it would be the size of a SYS-3. It was around a 1/2" taller. (I haven't actually put a tape on it) I have homemade SYS-Ports and this will not fit in the designated spot for a SYS-3. I have to put it in a spot for a SYS-4 and it looks very small in there. Perhaps I've placed my standards too high, but this is a small detail that it seems Festool always accounts for. Everything always seems to correlate. I think the handle could have been slightly smaller, making it even with the top of the SYS-3 or it could have been retractable inside the box. I understand that there is a hollow space below the handle to accommodate stacking of multiple SYS-Storages. This would still be achieved with a handle that popped down out of the way. Overall I'm very happy with it, but this minor detail just bothered me a little.

I am also very eager for the additional insert boxes to come available - once they do, I will buy an additional Sys-Storage systainer. (Timing?  Shane, do you have any idea when?)

The height is the same as the Sys-toolbox, and these integrate really well.

UPDATE:  Festool sent me the following message in response to my website inquiry WITHIN ONE HOUR!  [big grin]
Joseph,
Thank you for contacting Festool.
The boxes for the Sys-Storage box are currently available. See below for the part numbers.

Regards,

Current ETA is beginning of January for small and medium sizes and end of January for the large boxes.

Thanks for posting this in this thread. I am eager to get some more storage boxes.

I got an email about an introductory offer on the Tanos version from Lee Valley. They are selling them for $92 until Jan. 9 when they will go up to $105. The Festool version sells for $90. Tanos systainers are usually $3-4 cheaper. I wonder why the SYS-Storage will be so much more.

Got my containers today, dropped shipped from Festool, will post some pic's once I set up my Sys tool box
