sys-vac? or Range work table

Hi, Is Festool releasing the sys-vac soon? If not I have other options to will proceed with. Rangate company imports an adjustable work table with vacuum capabilities. This will be acquired unless someone here knows about updates for Festool tool releases. Thanks for any help. I have the portable edge bander and The only effective use of it is to clamp the curved tops to it. At least every time at Festool demos the instructor always uses the vac system from Festool. Because of the edge band is wider than the top it's difficult to lay the piece on the work bench and secure it.

Ditto on the Virutex, I have two and they are wonderful to use.  I made aluminum plates that screw down to threaded dogs under the table.  Plus you can buy two or three for what the Sys Vac or Schmalz will cost.

RST, thanks for the Virutex link.  Their base model of the vac clamp is only $85 without the articulating stand.  Definitely going to order a few, been waiting for the sys vac, and the sets from Rangate are way too bloody expensive.  Thinking of making a mount to inset them on the front edge of my Roubo to hold doors and large panels.

  The Barth tables sold by Rangate just look a lot more convenient and self contained. Sorry Festool but the vac sys just looks like I would be stepping on or tripping over the lines and trying to find a good spot to put the Systainers constantly. Looks like you'd have to buy an extra clamping head and construct a mobile table to match the Barth.
  The Festool looks like it would be easier to travel with but I really can't see why you'd want to. Also thisvideo at 5:20 has me questioning Frank's sanity or at the least, his sincerity.THIS

It will be interested to see what sort of announcement is made.  For those who have the Virutex model, whereas it works on a venturi using pressurized air flowing thru it at all times to maintain a vacuum I believe, how loud is it in combination with the air compressor?

I've made one similar to the Virutex vac clamp with about 200.00 worth of parts from LV. It was venturi and worked, wasn't loud. To use a vacuum pump with it, I just plug the small hole with tape and vacuum does the rest. There an old article I posted about 5 years ago that shows the setup.

When I originally started making vacuum jigs, I used my shop vac.  Later I used the intake on my air compressor.  Finally I purchased a surplus refrigeration vac pump which I have been using for at least 12 years.  I have the pump mounted to a platform runs continuously, with a ball valve and tee to clamp and release the vacuum.  The pump resides on the floor near my MFT and I use my foot to flick the valve.

I've used his PODZ clamps with my vacuum pump and they are surprisingly strong.  The site also has information and kits for building an inexpensive vacuum pump. It's a relatively inexpensive option and it is currently available.

I agree, the Barth table really is a nice piece of equipment. It's just that at at 109" x 88" x 49" it's just too large to fit into my shop. Not to mention the $8000 price tag, and this is for the smallest size they offer.

From what I was told, if / when the Vac SYS does come to N America, the vac part will not be in a Systainer. Of course that could always change, hopefully we will find out soon----

  Not sure if you saw this one Cheese, but it's significantly smaller. Depending on the price, I'm thinking of the Festool Vac Sys mounted on a cart similar to this.
