Just got one delivered today

As you would imagine its a very compact size so well done festool on not copying the other brands with their monstrous radios
It sounds good and the dab is not the problem I thought as I can use the radio player app on my phone to get all the dab stations, pause and play from the sysrock.

The fails - Why no internal battery ? I would have been happy to have it a bit bigger rather than have a huge battery stuck on the back and the inability to use the hanger, I know its been discussed  but it makes it more of an issue when you have one in your hand, realistically most people who buy one will be using it on site and not using the power lead.

oh and it wont fit in the case when its got a battery attached [crying]

Never mind, maybe mk2 will address these issues

I'm still confused why they decided to adopt the Syslite format.

Stick to your day job Festool !!

I think they should have built one in a systainer like many members here have done, but better :)

You reckon it sound good ? I can't seem to get a good signal anywhere on the radio and as for the Bluetooth it sounds like a £10 portable speaker in a cardboard kitchen roll tube, have to say in my opionion it's the biggest fail by Festool ever as well as they're 15v Impact driver, mines getting send back to Folkestone fixings and I'm going to get a makita DAB as all my trade friends have them and they swear by them

I'm happy with mine but do have to agree that it should have had an internal battery. Receptions fine for me up in north Scotland and the site I'm on has no phone reception or broadband. I've tried it with the mains lead and battery. The mains lead isn't in my opinion tough enough for site use/ longevity and as others have said the hanger is useless once a battery is attached.

Yep.
Here's some thoughts for sysrock 2 festool...

Put it in a syslite duo case or a systainer (personally i'd prefer syslite 2).
Allow the battery to fit internally.
Add bass WAY MORE BASS to go with the 2 speakers.
Add some usb ports so you can plug in your mobile and charge it.
Add DAB for those that want it.
Make it it charge your festool battery (that's fitted internally remember) when plugged into mains.
Make the display better, mine is flaky. (and add battery charge status to it)

Think that's it for now  [big grin] [big grin]

Ah yes and i'll be happy to test it for you for free  [big grin] 8)

Yup.

I think it's dewalt that made a radio for their storage solutions.

They do and it's got six speakers

Here it is. I think Dewalt own a lot of the patents making it harder or more expensive for other manufacturers to implement. But Festool if you're watching for this in a systainer I'd pay upwards of £200.

That DeWalt is soooooooo ugly!
Expected to see some b-boys breaking around it on some vinyl (in the 80's)...

I'd be sold on a sys 1 radio with a plug-it power connection that would power the radio and charge an internal battery, that is a dedicated battery in the radio not a tool battery. DAB etc etc etc
Also if the internal battery could be charged by a 12v vehicle supply so power could be replenished on the drive home that would be very useful.
I do like the idea of the duo format but unfortunately function has to come before form and another sys 2 to transport a radio seems excessive

If I was going to buy one, the Hitachi is well featured ...

When it comes to audio stuff though I'm very picky and would only part with money after listening. The bulky Festool branded radio I have was a give away with the KAPEX.

For the Sysrock to be offered up as anything more than a promotional item is a bit of a con in my books. Festool are known for making good tools, they're a bit hit and miss with accessories of late and this attempt in the world of audio tells me they should stick to their main game!

^
I've seen that video of the Hitachi before Kev.
I can't believe the reviewer didn't even turn the radio on so viewers could hear the sound.  ???

That Hitachi is massive! No thank you.

For me the main fail of the Sysrock is the lack of internal battery.

Oh, and the likely expense of a replacement power cable. Assuming similar price to the syslite cable. (I had a heart attack in another thread about that costing £60-£80

Hi Everyone
How dose the sysrock match up to the likes of the makita for volume and sound quailty
Thanks

Did anyone really expect a decent radio from a company that makes tools? I for one would rather them not squander any time on non-tool items. Probably the only reason they made it is because they knew they could put their logo on a marginal to crappy radio and people would buy it no matter how much it costs. Being the size of a SysLite guarantees it can't sound good and won't be audible at a distance with tools running etc. Terrible waste of resources when a standard boombox would work at half the price.

It's not a size issue as the UE megaboom will knock your socks off for sound quality and clarity at volume and it's small.

And a tool company can build a pretty nice sounding and robust radio, the bosch PB360.  It charges their batteries, has outlets, bluethooth, a sub, is weather proof and is a tank that can roll down a flight of stairs with no issues.

I just wish Festool took the systainer radio seriously.  (and Bosch the L-boxx radio)

Ugly??...here's what Dewalt has to say about their pride & joy, and I quote:

"It's a Jobsite Radio that manages to combine the sleek, contemporary design that you expect from DeWalt..."
[eek] [eek] [eek]

Yes but the Dewalt Toughsystem radio has:

40Watt RMS, 1 Subwoofer + 4 full range Tweeters
DAB+
AM/FM
Charges batteries internally
Bluetooth connectivity
3.5mm Aux. Input
5V/1A 2.4Hz USB charging
Power: AC & 18V/14.4V DEWALT battery charging
IP54 protection against dust and water jets

Now what other site radio has these features and has fantastic sound.

Wasn't about to tie you down and force it into your hand [cool]

... though you'd probably need to hold out both hands [big grin]
