I'm on Spring break this week and had a couple of days between jobs so I've used that time to work towards becoming a little more efficient. Earlier in the week I transformed my assembly table into a hybrid mft and I just finished this install kit that fits in a Sys 5. I have wasted so much time in the past lugging around a tool box and a couple of different bags when I go out for an install. I ended up picking up a collapsable dolly to stack my systainers on. It is very light weight and extremely compact. Coupled with the fact that I'll have most everything in systainers it should make future installs more enjoyable and efficient. I haven't packed this thing out yet but I have most of what I need. The two drawers on the end hold my scribing tool and stud finder. Woodcraft has the small Kreg pocket jig on sale and I'm going to pick that up to put in the other drawer so that I don't have to lug my bigger one around. The mini sys has a a couiple of f-clamps, some gloves and wiping cloths as well as a mini flashlight. I have screws and anchors in the four smaller drawers and can always change those out if necessary. There's a small pencil tray beneath the chisels and the top will hold stuff like my plane, tape measure and glasses.

I almost forgot.  I can't remember who started the thread that showed their version of Festool's tool kit but it was a huge inspiration for this, as was Frank's tweeking of the idea.  Thanks guys.

I believe that is Paul Franklin that we both have to thank for his alternative tool holder fitting into a systainer.  There is picture of Paul's effort in reply #5 in the thread: http://festoolownersgroup.com/index.php?topic=139.0

By the way, Paul was also the one who inspired many of us to build our own sysports.

Looks great!  I've been thinking about doing something of this general sort.

What plywood (thickness) did you use?  I assume that it would have a big
effect on the weight, which is a concern to this old man.

Matthew,

Great idea, but how/where does a person find the details that correspond to the specific desired post in a thread?

Russ,

I like that you included that most essential of all tools; the "Orange Dead Blow Fine Adjuster".

Don't leave home without it ;)
