Systainer mod for router bits.

What's the big deal? No company can be reasonably expected to endlessly produce all the models in its product line. Festool are supporting the old systainers for 7 years or so. That's reasonable.

If a user has a particular situation which calls for using the old systainers, such as in Festfan's case, they could put the new tool in an old systainer. I think dealers over here are willing to sell new tools in old systainers.

So dealers will have to buy more old systainers to put the new tools in and then try and sell the new once to make up for buy the old ones plus they have stickers which the dealer would have to take of so he can sell them as a plain systainer.  So I dont think dealers will be willing to sell tools in a old systainer they will be willing to sell them in the new systainer and also sell you an empty old systainer.

I expect that you are correct about this.

To make things easier, I suggesat that Festool in North America provide the option to purchase a tool without a systainer.  That option is available in may other regions of the world.

Any chance you could take a photo of this so I could have a look at mine?
Too bad. Inserts usually last about a week with me and then I replace them by either a foam pad (http://www.festoolusa.com/products/systainers/foam-inserts/foam-insert-for-sys-1sys-5-bottom-491642.html) for versatility or a mod. Eg:

Coincidentally I just mailed some of these to Sean to put in his Pictures&Video's at http://www.systainerworld.com/Articles.asp?ID=144.

What I understood from the rep: As long as you didn't found a voucher inside the systainer of your new tool, your inlay is not supposed to be T-loc ready. The only voucher I received was enclosed to my Domino, and it looks like I am no longer in posession of the original inlay.

The deal is so big because systainers are a significant part of the bigger whole; the system. Changing a part of that system will rock the boat.

FestFan, thanks for the photos showing some of the ways that you use systainers.

I am particularly interested in the Bacho wrench set.  I've been carrying my set of socket wrenches in a maxi systainer:

because I was unable to find a suitable set to fit into a regular size systainer.   My plan was (is?) to cut up the container that holds the wrenches and to custom fit them into a systainer but, in two yearws, I have never gotten around to doing so.

Please let me know Bacho's part number and I will contact Bacho Canada and see if they can get it for me.

FestFan,

The calculator on the systainer is hilarious, but at the same time, my hat's off to you for such a brilliant design.  Thumbs up for your ingenuity! [thumbs up] [thumbs up]

Found it! I never believed I could, but somewhere, somehow I just found it. Here are the pics:

Please let me know if any of you have the same pre-cut on your Domino inlay as well.

I realise it is completely ridiculous, however I tend to use it every now and then when working out some figures. It does get me some laughs when I do so tough. ;D

My local dealer is selling off all of his systainer stock and has told me as new supplies come in all the tools will be in T loc`s. The Classic Systainer will be no more. I am not Happy [sad]

Well thats not good.  If I was a dealer I would sell of all the stock and wait because maybe the prices of the old systainers might go down  and if so  his old stock would loose him money if he would have to drop the prices to compete. Then get more old systainers at the lower price.

Thanks a lot Festfan. I'll have a look tomorrow if my domino has the same.

Festfan my Domino doesn't have the tabs. I did buy mine 6 months ago though.. How long ago did you buy yours?

My Domino does not have the tabs either

I bought mine at the 8th of july. I guess you guys didn't happen to see the voucher for a new T-loc going along with your purchase? The Festool rep explained to me that all systainers filled with an inlay suitable for the T-loc, should have a voucher that'll give you the right to purchase one at a reduced price. In my case this was 20 Euro only for a sys II. To me this confirms again that Festool has already begun pushing the classic systainer out of their system. Too bad. :'(

I just bought my Domino last month, and the inlay does have the pre-cut area. It was manufactured in 04/10. Though sadly, no coupon for the T-Loc (I assume that's because I'm in the US).

I would go look at mine but a customer has borrowed it. I should get it back this afternoon. It'll be interesting because it was made years ago.

8th of July huh? Does that mean that my DTS 400 that I purchased last month should have that? I haven't looked but I will do so tomorrow.

Sept 1st, there was a Festool demo day at my dealer, every (festool)customer got a systainer 1 for free.
Somebody is clearing out his stock...
