I found a listing of a "new" Metabo drill with NiCD batteries.

Not that unusual, old-new stock is still out there.

One of my dealers has a couple Protool SDP NiMH drills on sale at 80% discounts (for €50 and $70 respectively). 2005 era kit that somehow stayed in a warehouse I guess.

They are explicitly selling them as "batteries included are for refurbishment" but otherwise as new stuff with full warranty and all.

My DR 20 drill was made in 2015, bought it in 2022 at new-old stock. My Protool angle grinder (bought 2021) is a 2009-made tool ..

To mino's point, I just bought a PS300 last weekend from a dealer in the T-Loc systainer that was built in 2012.
