Systainer Transport in a Tundra

Remains to be seen how the new model Tundra ("Now with even more truckness!") will be received.  By making it as big as the other North American full-sizes, Toyota's lost a marketing advantage, at least for our strange little demographic.  Fortunately, they've still got build quality and reliability going for them.

My TS 55 in it's systainer fits o-so nicely behind my seat in my 07 Tundra CrewMax.  I do love the "More truckness" and the ability to haul more people comfortably, or more gear safely.

My white Tundra was born in Texas, do you paint there or at Princeton?

Steve

I paint them in Princeton, Indiana. It is kinda neat to here people enjoying their trucks away from here. Everybody around here drives Toyotas, I have a Sienna for me and the kids, but I drive a GMC Sierra contractors truck. I only live 5 miles from the plant, and my 06 GMC has 10,000 miles on it, so i figured since i'm hardly in it I got the cheapest new truck I could find. I did drive it to Indy for a woodworking show, kinda sucked not having cruise control.

That would be neat to paint it black and green, until i got fired, it would look cool though!!!

Festool USA ought to order a fleet of them for use as official vehicles.

Festool always use VW Transporters for their vehicles (at least in Europe). All the Festool reps have them. What do the reps drive in the US?

Ah this is beginning to look like a summer project, some times I'd prefer not to have to haul my trailer to smaller jobs (great when I'm on site for more than a couple of days).
1. has anyone made the system removable?
2. what do you do in front of the wheel wells?

I had to mount it "creatively" so that I could use the holes in my Makita. The creativity involved adding a 1-1/2" block on my sawhelper base and drilling a hole throgh. As for if it works YES! dust goes into a box at the bottom and does not spray all over the jobsite. I got my from Richelieu Canada but it's listed on their site:http://www.fastcap.com/products.aspx?id=3802, I think it cost $125CDN. I had it with a bunch of drawer slides, glue, etc... for a job.

Okay lets figure out how to mate this with a dust collector!

I hooked up my Fein dust extractor (I know Iknow it's and evil word at FOG) and the chop saw still spewed the dust into the Fastcap sawshop saw hood. The hood works.

I got the chop shop hood a few weeks ago and for some unknown reason I haven't use it yet. What Makita saw do you have, I have 1214 and the sawhelper. A few pics of your solution would be great.

I have the 1214. I'll post some, I've got to get to a site where its set up, I'm in a friends shop this week getting him through a crunch time...

Now it's the Makita LS1214 & Sawhelper & Chopshop sawhood club.

Someone asked for photos, a couple of weeks ago and I'm set up in a customers house again.
