Systainer with deeper drawers

After seeing the Milwaukee pack out 2 drawer and 3 drawers stacked up and rarely having to come off a cart, I hope Tanos and Festool are working on them!
The 3 drawer sortainer is great, but a few tools need a slightly deeper drawer. The Milwaukee 2 drawer version has drawers that are 5.75 inches deep.

If you can track down the Classic style Sortainers there are two that have a little bit deeper drawer. 

  2 7/8" on the new ones.  3 3/8" on the old. There is a four drawer unit with one large drawer, and a five drawer unit with two of the large drawers. It is only 1/2" but it is enough to make the difference for some tools.

I do still have a few of the classic sortainters as well. Those drawers are still not as big as the Milwaukee pack outs though. Hopefully they come out with them!

I really don't want festool to follow packout. I have 8 packout cases and they are good, very durable, and good for framing or renovation sites but not something I bring into customers homes. Same with the dewalt tough system which I have more of for my general construction tools. The packout and tough system are just to bulky and heavy for bringing into finished spaces, and those wheels will scratch a finished wood floor. The bigger packouts in particular are a pain up and down finished stair cases, where when loaded they are heavy and the wheels might scratch the treads. Shape is too bulky. Great for a garage or framing site but not really useful on a finish job for me. I really prefer systainers for finish work. In terms of rollable permanent drawer set ups that don’t travel I do have a bank of the sys az drawers and lots of regular drawer boxes in sysports.

I think that a drawer that would have the same footprint as the SORT/3 but have a drawer option which is about 1.5x the height would be ideal.

Actually, I would like to see Festool or TANOS FINALLY take their head out of their ... and sell the sortainers as parts kit where you can decide how-hight a stack you want.

They are already molded in such a way it would be trivial to sell:
- bottom + top kit (SORT/0 style)
- bottom + Combi 2 top + standard drawer kit
- bottom + Combi 3 top + standard drawer kit
- standard drawer unit (71mm in T-Loc), possibly in a set three in one package (3 drawers are exactly 2.5 105mm units aka like a Combi2)
- high drawer unit (124 mm in T-Loc [71 + 52.5] )

That would be just 5 SKUs yet it would allow for immense flexibility. The technology is already there - the pieces can be put together just by pushing-in already. TANOS just needs to make it into SKUs.

Since they already broke the heights, this would make sense.  For some things (like screws) 2 drawers is plenty heavy; for others you could add one without having a negative weight penalty.

While they are at it, they could offer them in L size.

Yes, I meant same exterior dimensions as the systainers are currently but with two deeper drawers. So a sys 4 with two deeper drawers.
The idea of a build your own is fantastic as well! Order just the parts and build to suit your own needs. Deeper single drawer units would be great too. I have seen a few YouTube videos where people disassemble them and make their own single drawers. That would be an easy add on.
