Hi guys,

I recently picked up the new DEWALT 20v cordless finish nailer as well as their existing cordless recip saw.  One of the reasons I bought these as bare tools instead of as kits is so that I could integrate them into my Festool storage and feed my OCD tendencies.  8)

I've never bought separate systainers or sortainers before for my non-Festool gear.  Can you guys give me some general guidance or even specific recommendations on what to think about & consider?  One thing I've noticed is that my nailer measures a solid 12" x 12", so I don't *think* I can fit this lying down in one of the tainers but instead will have to stand it on its head upside-down.  But I'm sure other guys here have run into this and can suggest options.

Also, because these tools are a bit on the bulky side, am I right that I need to look for aftermarket foam somewhere that can appropriately protect these from moving?

Any other considerations welcome, guys.  Thanks!

Not a direct answer to your question, but I thought I'd share that I've been thinking about trying out bagging a couple of tools and suspending them in a systainer, then injecting cavity foam to see what sort of custom fit I'd get - purely as an experiment .. haven't got round to it yet. A pair of Dewalts (framer and finisher) were exactly what I was thinking of trying it with.

Pretty sure a Hitachi finish nailer will fit into a 3 box, very much doubt any reciprocating saw will fit into any of the standard footprint boxes as al the ones I've seen have been pretty long, Might fit into a Midi box though?

Dewalt has one that fits and for light duty rigid also has one

I'm not sure about the length of your cordless sawzall, but I keep my corded version in a Midi.  I put my smaller staplers and nailers in sortainer 4s.  I put 2 in the large drawer and the various pins, brads, and staples in the smaller drawers.
