T-Loc boxes are great but...

The handles wear on the ends and after a couple of years of site use the handles are in danger of coming off.
In pretty much every other way I love em but the handle pivots are a bit crap.
Just sayin.

I gotta agree with that. The handle wearing is the only criticism for them- I would say they last 3-5 years in my workflow.  Systainers are still one of my favourite festool products though!

Wow, well this is interesting and good to know. I better start looking for a fix.

On the plus points...
They fit into my Clarke toolsafe that I use for van security about as perfectly as its possible to get.
They're good to stack and move about on site with my extractor or my Sysroll.
I've got rid of pretty much all the other powered toolboxes and put the tools into T-Loc boxes.

Great boxes and I have a good few of them.
Crap handle pivots though.

I wish they were just A LITTLE bit thicker material so they wouldn't "rack" when they're sitting on an uneven surface and I wish they were glass-fiber reinforced ABS, instead of just plane ole ABS.

I like them, in general though.

You fellas with the failing handles -

did you experience the same thing with the first generation systainers ?

Dunno, I only started getting them after the move to T-Loc, personally I find the classics I've tried (had a look at other peoples Makita Classics) to be a faff to clip and unclip.

Yea really.

The only Classic Systainers that I've had any issue with the latches are the small mini-Systainers. With these, the latches all to often twist sideways requiring a little attention. The rest of the Classic Systainers have had NO issues with the latches other than needing an occasional waxing -- never had one fall off.

The new T-Locs are easier to latch and unlatch, but are a real pain when stored in a SysPort. With the Classics, I could leave a Systainer closed, but unlatched and still close the drawer. But, if I close the drawer with a T-Loc Systainer the latch will pop off. Easy enough to put back on, but not so easy any more to bend down to pick it up off the floor.

" But, if I close the drawer with a T-Loc Systainer the latch will pop off."

I think you've accidently discovered the heretofore untold method of removing the latch.

I'm making a hard copy of this thread before it's redacted. :)

Aye, that goes for me too.

Don't get me wrong, I love the sizes, the ability to stack with very little wasted space and the fact they clip onto my extractor.
Wouldn't mind if they were thicker (could double the thickness and only lose a minuscule amount of internal space) and glass re-enforced.

I've started having this happen with my systainers I find it gets worse if you try to fold the handle down with a bit of saw dust around the handle pivot

Yeah, I imagine that if I worked in a totally clean environment it wouldn't happen anything like as quickly but I work on all sites from demolition through concrete formwork through to second fix in posh houses so my boxes can get pretty covered sometimes.

I was thinking about this thread the other day when the handle popped off my 4 year old attic lid  [sad]

Done this a few years ago to my track saw sys been fine ever since[attachimg=1]

I have the lasted Gen systainer m only 4 months old and the handle comes off. Shame they haven’t noticed this and done something about the design after all these years.😢
