T-Minus 3 Days and Counting... What's on your shopping list for Oct 1st?

I went today to take a look at the C12, because I was planning to bring one home.  I've been waiting for the C12 since last year.  Unfortunately, the C12 waved bye to me and my new CXS.  I believe the Festool web site says there is about a 10 oz difference between the CXS and the C12, but the form factor of the C12 makes it seem heavier. 

I have 29 drawer slides and drawers to install in the next week, so my CXS should get a nice workout.  Yes, I am sad I won't be purchasing the C12.  Although, I will be taking a very close look at the T15 impact driver next year.

Anyone else disappointed with the new C12?
 
Thanks for the video Shane.  I picked these up on Saturday and they are awesome.  I love the fact that these are part of the centrotec system.  I always thought that forstner bits only produced great results on a drill press, but these have completely changed my mind and it has to do with the fact that they fit perfectly on the drill and have pilots.

Shane, will Festool be offering replacement bits (not that you would need them in the near future) or is this a one time limited offer to obtain these bits?

I'm not aware of any plans to offer them separately. These can easily be resharpened multiple times for prolonged life.

My first Festool is the CT Mini.  To expand my collection I went to the local Houston Woodcraft and picked up the Ro90, and was given the gift of the CXS by a family member who went with me.  By the time I left the store at 2:55 I ran into David Marks as he was to be in-store at 3:00 for a charity event that day.

What a great day, indeed!  Two cool tools and getting a chance to talk to David Marks -- he is very personable and an overall great guy (and he even uses some Festool tools like the OF1000 router (pre-1010) for inlay work.  Congrats on the tools and welcome to the FOG!

I read in Dutch and German Festool material that they can be resharpened up to 30 times! That gives them a very long lifetime.
 
My first Festool power toys, um, I mean tools  [big grin] arrived a little while ago. I have to admit that the sale caused me to change the order of my purchases. I had the TS 55 at the top of my list. (it is once again.) But I also realized that the RAS is the perfect tool to handle a scribing issue that I had been wondering how to solve.

So since I need the TS 55 and RAS for the same project, and the RAS is on sale. Well, the choice was obvious…

The excitement builds:

Stacked up and ready for work, along with the Installer cleanup kit previously purchased in anticipation of getting the TS 55 and to use with a Dust Deputy:

Here are my initial thoughts on the CT 26:

  • This one came with the EPA HEPA certification. Since Festool just announced it I'm kinda surprised that it's readily available already.
  • "Holy Honkin' Power Cord, Batman!" That is one heavy power cord! It says it's 12 gauge, but it's still heavier than my 12 gauge extension cords.
  • Connecting the power bag is super easy. So easy, in fact, that I checked it three times because I kept thinking I had to have missed something. The leverage system and positive latch is exactly the kind of connection I've been dreaming of when cursing other "press fit" connections in the past.
  • It's amazingly quiet. I had noticed that the Festool specs on noise indicated that it is louder than the Fein vacs, which had me considering that one for a while. I'm not worried about the noise any more. This thing is quieter than our Hoover WindTunnel used everywhere else in the house, nevermind the ear busting shop vac.
  • CT 26 -> D36 hose -> Dust Deputy -> D27 hose works beautifully.
  • Despite it's low noise level, the CT 26 is very powerful. At full power, it managed to collapse the 5 gallon bucket attached to my Dust Deputy without any significant restriction of airflow into the business end of the hose. (Does anyone know how to prevent such a collapse?) My old Craftsman 5 horsepower shop vac didn't even threaten to do that.
  • The wheels on the CT 26 are really nice. The wheels on my old shop vac were miserable, to the point where I was wondering if someone was thinking "square" when they made them. But the CT26 moves very easily and smoothly, even loaded down as in the last picture.
  • The D27 hose connects to the Dust Deputy without having to swap out any connectors.

I'm looking forward to putting my new toys, uh, tools through their paces.

So  Festool finally is making it easier to cram that hose in the systainer. Cool.

I didn't know it grew. It's just what came with the set. Here's what it looks like now. (The extra object in the upper right of the last picture is an extra 36mm connector so I can connect one end to the Dust Deputy when the other end is connected to a tool.)
 
you can build an internal ribbing structure out of ply for your dd to prevent it from collapsing, should be a bunch of threads floating around about it.

Are you using a 5 gal bucket your picked up yourself? I bought the package deal as I had head the oneida provided one is sturdier (havent had an implosion yet). There are sturdier 5 gal buckets to be had as well....try ebay
