Hi All -

Beem lurking for quite some time.  Thought it was time to say hello.  Hello!

I do have a question though... Can someone tell me if the keyless chuck on the T+ drills were of the rachet type?  Trying to decide if I'm going to buy a used/closeout T+ or the new T plus model drill.

I've been using the Panasonic 14.4v drill and impact for a couple of years and have been generally satisfied but have found myself lusting over the right anngle and off-set chucks on the Festool.  I'm aware of the new features of the T plus drills. The Panasonics have LED's and belt hooks and I don't seem to use those features much so the tipping point for me between the T+ and the T plus drill depends on the keyless chuck, and if the new version comes with a rachet type and the older version doesn't.

By the way... what a great forum.  Thanks to all who contribute so much time, expertise and information.

Welcome to the forum!  To the best of my knowledge the T-15's here in the states all came with a ratcheting chuck.  I know my did.

No Peter, that is not correct. The T15+3 and T12+3 were already sold in the USA long before the ratchet chuck was introduced. You can see the old chuck in  Brice's T15+3 review.

Al new Festool drills with the lights and belt clip come with the ratchet chuck. But for older models you will have to identify the chuck visually.

The first picture below is the old chuck, the second one is the new ratchet chuck. They look different.

Alex,

It seems that I am consistently wrong on this subject.  Thanks for correcting me.  Here is another  thread about the chucks:  T-15 Chucks

In that thread AtomicMike says that his drill with a manufacture date of March 09 came with the non ratcheting chuck.  I just went out and checked my drill with a manufacture date of August 2009 and it does have the ratcheting chuck.

I bought a T-15 last year when they were discounted just before the new models came out and it came with a ratcheting chuck. I suppose it depends on how old it is.
