And the battery level indicator so you know how charged the battery is.  That to me is the biggest advantage of the new drills over the old.  I have an older one and love it, but it would be great to have the gauge.

I got one when it first came out. The batteries that came with it are 2.6Ah. The latest ones are 3.0Ah.

I could buy older with discount

I like Festoolproducts.com (Aka The Toolnut) as a lot of my purchases are from them.  One thing you have to pay particular attention to on their website is that sometimes they list things that are not available.  In this instance, the older model of the drill is listed as "Availability: Currently Unavailable ".  You may be able to find it elsewhere as I've occasionally run across older models at dealers.

If you don't mind reconditioned, you can get the older model at either 10% or 20% off ($414 or $368):  http://www.festoolusa.com/power-tools/reconditioned/  If you want to go this way, I suggest jumping on it immediately because these items have a tendency to disappear in a heartbeat.

I believe the older drills come in the classic Systainer.  Also keep in mind these drills have been sitting for years now and the batteries slowly degrade just sitting on the shelf.
