T15 over T18 ?

You know you'd only buy a PDC18-4 skin don't you ... (tool plus Systainer). I know it's "warranty lotto", but of all the tools, the drills probably have the lowest repair ratio (guessing here, assume I'll stand corrected).

I wouldn't want to go through the hassle of ordering a drill abroad, with all the warranty issues on top. Come on, it's just a drill and there are many respectable alternatives available in America.

As for repairs, I've read plenty of posts here about defective Festool drills, so it's something you want to keep in mind.

I considered that, but then I have to either buy the charger and batteries separately, or I'd have to buy ANOTHER cordless tool just to get the charger and batteries that come with it. And that still only addresses ONE of my four concerns...

...which would ALL be addressed if the PDC was AINA.

So, Kev - do you suppose Festool might pick up on my *subtle hint* that I WANT A PDC?

Or should I be a little more forward about it?

I think you should stop holding back ... painting "I want a Festool PDC18-4" in green 20 feet high letters on the walls of Festool NA HQ may just get some action happening! [wink] [big grin] ... NO - I'm not endorsing that in any way [eek]

Cost and weight. That's all the T15's advantages over the T18.

Seen from a set perspective... the cordless TS prefers the 18 batteries, the cordless jigsaw is available in 18... and the Ti is not (for the sake of selling more batteries  ???)

So if you would want to add a Ti to your gear, get the T15. If you want to get a cordless TS.. get the T18.

I have the T-18 and the 4.2Ah battery is a great improvement over the last design.  The fit and form of the T-18 is so superior to my old DeWalt 14v battery that I gave the deWalt to my son (he'll have to wait for my Festool stuff).

Used my T15 impact today for the first time.  It's not for big stuff, but driving 4 inch screws deep was not an issue.  I reinforced a flimsy pine screen door by countersinking as deep as my countersink would go, and then drove the #10 screws another 1" plus into the stiles through the rails.  It'll do everything I want it to.  I don't think i'll be changing tires with it though. [tongue]
