T15 vs. T18?

I'm in the market for 2 new cordless drills to replace my dead Panasonic and Hitachi.  I'm thinking the CXS for one.  I hear a lot of talk about people's T15 but rarely anyone talks about their T18.  I was looking at the T18 at JLC and as Shane pointed out, it's virtually the same size as the T15 and it weighs less than 5 oz. more.  The only difference is the battery voltage.  I'm leaning towards the T18 unless someone can talk me out of it.  ???

i have the both and both are well used and can't see the festool sign anymore and now struggle to tell what ones what to be honest but 18 last a bit longer but 18 is to strong when doing ironmongery.

The T15 is a good choice if there's a chance you'll also get the Ti15 in the future ... the batteries will be interchangeable.

I came to the same conclusion ,but the 15v battery with the impact compatibility is a good point,the sys lite needs abattery,18v. is what I did

Another thought is the cordless jigsaws are 18v.  My point is, at this stage Festool doesn't have a set voltage that all of the tools are offered in.  15v is the safe bet, but who knows what the future holds.  I hope it holds an 18v impact.

Thing is, the jigsaw doesn't come into it at all because it will run of 15v and 18v so which ever route you take the jigsaw will always be your friend.

Same with sys lite he will always be you'r friend which ever voltage you go for.

The only tool which would decide which route you would have to take is the Ti15

I can and can't see festool bringing out a Ti18

I CAN'T because as you all are fully aware of my opinions of the Ti15! I can't see festool have made alot of sales in the UK with the Ti15 so would seem silly to spend/invest in a Ti18 unless it was improved.

I CAN see festool bringing out a Ti18 because wouldn't be right not to, seen as they have started the 18v range now and people won't be happy if festool starts to just have certain tools in certain voltages unless they are like the jigsaw and can work of any voltage.

The reason why most people talk about the T15 more than the T18 is because

1. Cheapos some didnt want to spend that little extra!!
2. Some people might want the Ti15
3. Like me some might of bought the T15 when the T18 wasn't even available.

I bought the t15 because I have the ti15 and wanted interchangeable batteries, I will be getting the jigsaw in 15v too, the t15 is plenty powerful, I was boring out for locks on hour fire doors today with no problem but the battery does empty quicker

I had the CXS and 98 piece centrotec set, so before this years price increase I bought the T18+3. I had no real reason to go with the 18 instead of the 15 other than being addicted to this type of stuff  [tongue]

yes, the cordless 420 runs very well on the 15 volt batteries !

My guess is we'll see a new 18v impact from Protool soon.

For what it's work, the 18 volt Protool batteries seem fine in the cordless 420.

Hi there .I found that if you drive a lot of screws no mater the size T15 is fine but if u need a drill you need T18 .

I have an older model 15 and am looking to compliment with an 18 upgrade. T18 wasn't available when I bought my 15 but the 15 is still a fantastic drill.
