Hello FOG members!
I own almost exclusively Festool, for more than 13 years now. One of my trusted drills has developed an issue.
My T18+3 Li-Ion, will instantly stop turning when pulling the trigger. As in the clutch cuts off.
I can get it turning ever so slightly/slow if I am really gentle, but it will keep cutting off.
Now, changing the clutch setting, direction, mode (drilling/screwing) or gear will not do anything. Still the same.
But! IF I keep doing the pull trigger game, after about 3-5min it will work just fine and as intended. It just takes forever...
What comes to mind is cleaning the trigger or the brushes (if there even are any).
I live in Alaska, so service is not locally available, shipping the only option.
I am tempted to take it apart myself and give it that cleaning treatment, but I am worried that after me opening it up, no service center will accept it for repair anymore.
Obviously, warranty is not my issue.
Ordering the part and replacing it is something I could see myself doing as well. Looked up the drill in the Festool online parts catalog already. Seems pretty straight forward, IF it even is the trigger of course.
Just wanted to check with you all if that's something that has happened to others, and what was done about.
Buying a new drill is an option, I am just concerned that I would have to get all new batteries and charger. But that's probably unavoidable at some point after 10+ years of use I guess.
Thoughts anyone?!
