T18+3 not engaging

Hi Guys,

I have the above tool and was drilling with Jacobs chuck, drill got stuck and thought that was odd (5mm into pine). Thought it was the chuck but realised soon after that I can hold my fingers on the centrepiece ?) and when I pull the trigger, I hear a rattling sound - no pressure drill spins and usual drill noise.

I Just played around with it again with speed 2 and drill /screw mode and its not a problem. Went back to speed 1 and no problem again.

So it looks like intermittent issue (which I didnt figure out when working with it) Perhaps Gearing?

I havent opened it up yet, anyone have any idea what to look for when I eventually do?
I looked up Ekat and if its the gear housing $110 or motor ($410) I may look at buying a new drill
I do hate throwing stuff away and like to fix

The rattling is an indication it might be the gearbox.

Sometimes it just happens once, and then the drill goes on without problem. Just a little gear having a fit. But if your problem persists a new gearbox might be the solution because the gears can wear out or break.

Thanks Alex. Ill keep using and if it happens again I might open her up and have a look or decide to buy a new one
