In Canada T18 ONLY tool will cost me c.$900 plus tax. I have 3 batteries and the charger Festool.
That looks to me a lot of money for a drill.
In home depot I just spotted a Milwaukee Fuel-M18, 2 batt. 18V (5VA) and charger with a hard case = $420 plus tax.

Q: What is it that should make me to get T18-Festool?

Both are excellent drills. I bought the T18 because I liked its feel in my hand. I've not been disappointed. I use the T18 accessories more than I initially believed I would. It's an expensive drill, but I think the value is excellent.

JESUS CHRIST on a bike!!

The T18 body only is approx £170 inc. tax in the UK (approx c$300). So c$900 + tax is absolutely obscene.

I have the Milwaukee Fuel 2 M18 and it's absolutely fantastic, phenomenal amount of torque and really solid build quality. Though it's a different beast to the T18 in terms of weight at half a KG heavier and having the masonry hammer function.

Wow. That's crazy. Looks like price gouging for the uninformed. I had  the older Fuel and it was nice but I'm coming on a year and half with my T18 and she's awesome. Much lighter, the right angle chuck is awesome. Love the feel.

Where are you buying from?

I have looked at the Ultimate Tools (Canada) website, thehttp://www.ultimatetools.ca/collections/drills/products/t-18-drill?variant=4220879428

Basic (564620) includes:

    T 18 drill body
    Centrotec Chuck
    Centrotec Bit Holder
    FastFix Keyless Chuck
    Systainer 2

and is listed at $400

Same athttp://festoolshop.ca/564620/
Same on Amazon Canada

In the USA, that item is $300, which currently converts to $376 Canadian. Someone trying to get $900 Canadian is sticking it to you for sure!

Yeah, something's definitely wrong here.

I would recommend the T18 if you have to do a lot of precision drilling.  The trigger is extremely sensitive, meaning you can run at a snail's piece if needed for extra care.  There is no runout with the chuck, so the size of the drill bit = the size of the hole.  To take full advantage, though, I think it's wise to get the offset and right angle chucks.  You would be surprised how often the offset chuck comes in handy.

If you're just doing basic screw driving, not sure if it's worth it.

I think Daniel was correct on the price in Canada.  The $400.00 price tag was the basic drill no batteries or accessories.  The complete set with everything is $830.00 Canadian at LeeValley.http://www.leevalley.com/en/Festool/page.aspx?p=67981&cat=5,105,68326

"In Canada T18 ONLY tool will cost me c.$900 plus tax. I have 3 batteries and the charger Festool." He's not correct, but maybe just mistaken.

The T18 is nice. I personally prefer the C handle for a precision drill.

Have to be onest and say my t18 is a work horse had it for 6 years and iv beat it up, use it for everything. If it was to die tomorrow I would get another one the next day. Well balanced and plenty of power.

SHUT THE FRONT DOOR !

$900  for a tool only is just crazy !!!!    [eek]    [scared]

I love me a little Festool action, but I don't think I'll get a happy ending with a $900 tool only deal.

Eric

If you have batteries and it is 400$ca it makes sense.

I like the different drill.

Can you then sell the batteries? Or do you need them?

Euh, something is wrong about the price?

Including 21% VAT, I can go out tomorrow and get myself a T18 SET (2 batteries, angle chuck, excenter chuck, systainer, charger) for €570. And with current promotions, get 60 Euros worth of Festool accessories on top of that. That works out to C$820.

C$900 for only the tool is just crazy. Then just import it from Europe. I had a photoprinter shipped the other way around from the US some time ago; it was like $120 there, €480 here.  ???

For me it was the quick change 90 degree, eccentric & depth stop heads. That makes the T18 a close quarters drill, a drywall gun & regular drill.

Thanks a lot for nice advices.

In mean time I got a Milwaukee Fuel Brushless Drill 136 Nm (around 3 x Featool T18 torque, but which I do not need ) for free in Home Depot. How?

it comes in all new tool, set cd $400
2 battery 18 V, 5 VA, each (2 x cd$160) = $ 320
Battery charger one = cd$60
So the drill I paid only cd$20 (=near free)
Payment for all that stuff is after 18 months (no interest).

Along I got Milwaukee Fuel Brushless circular saw, tool only, and can use battery from the drill above.
---
My only problem is that I already have Festool battery 18 V (3 of them) for my jig and track saw Festool, and I do not like collections of different batteries and chargers.

But, when I start to make my own House and all Furniture inside, I think I will need all that drills and saws. What you guy think?

I am thinking to get and Festool now (it is really cd$400 at that two places), and throw the Milwaukee into heavy-use tool box.

Haven't used the Milwaukee cordless saw -- I suppose it might be good for rough framing if you have any of that in your future.  But I can't imagine too many other projects where I would look on the table, see both the TSC55 and the M18 saw, and choose the M18.

Keep in mind that Festool is also releasing the HKC55 in North America come Fall, if you are interested in a framing saw.

I have an A10M, which is effectively a Metabo and it has a 90-degree job and is short.
Those are nice features to look for in any portable drill.

IMO, and not doing timber framing, I went for the small drill for driving as much as drilling. So any small short drill/driver will do if it has a 90-degree and is short.

When you get to large drilling, then if you do not need cordless, then why not use a corded drill.

That PDC with the 43-mm flange suits the drill stations... Unless you do timber framing you probably don't need a drill station... But it does give an option for being 'normal' to the surface. So it seems an interesting drill.

But I'd probably recommend a Panasonic and a decent corded drill.

The Mrs using the A10M to do Ikea "put together" gives me joy to watch... It is sometimes nice to have a small drill driver.
I have a big Bosch hammer job for large hole sawing, but no 43-mm flange on it.
I've also been looking at the A18, and the Bosch corded for 43-mm... And I am leaning towards corded.
