T75 Blade depth when at rest

I am fairly new to track saws and have what is probably a dumb question about my T75. I was going to try a plunge cut and I have notice when the blade is in the up position at rest it sticks out about a 1/4 inch below the base. In other words when trying to plunge the blade is already hitting the wood so when I start the saw it really jumps off the track. Is it supposed to be like this and if so how do I actually start a plunge cut using the guide rails. Thanks for the help

Something is wrong with the saw. The blade should fully retract into the housing.

Thank you thats what I thought. I looked at the manual and I cant find where there is an adjustment.

There is no adjustment. Yours is probably jammed somewhere. Could there be an off-cut stuck inside the housing? Also look at the lock mechanism near the handle (metal piece that moves when you slide green button on the very top).

If you haven't ever used the saw before, check to make sure your blade isn't binding on the green splinter guard. If that's the case, remove the knob that locks it in place and pull the guard out and reinstall it once the blade is fully retracted. the Manual advises to "break in" the splinter guard by making a one time plunge cut at full depth with the saw powered on. Once you do this, the splinter guard will be cut and this will no longer cause the blade to hang up.

I have been using the saw quite regularly for ripping joints for table tops and cutting the ends to length. I took off the blade guard and did have wood chips and epoxy chips lodged in there. Took that out and everything works fine. Midi Dust collector even works better now with the saw. I was wondering why it wasnt working well. I make a lot of river tables and when I cut the ends with the track saw I go thru epoxy and it looks like the saw doesnt like that too well. I will have to make sure I keep it cleaned. I hahd to cut out for a cook top in a walnut island i am makeing and used the plunge feature to get most of that out. Worked great. Thanks for all of the advice.
