They ARE the same size (they're made by the same company, in the same factory, from the same moulds). If you take the size quoted by Festool, 395x295mm, and round it up to the nearest 10mm/1cm, you get 400x300mm.

If you're trying to talk yourself out of spending money, you'll need to try harder than that... ;) ;D

why the hell would you not just put what it is? and and why do they have internal measurmenrts as 375x 280 x 395??????????????????

they go to the trouble of saying inside and out mearsurments.........

Good Morning Gentlemen,

Even though I live in SF bay area the FOG from the Festool Owner's Group look more intense!!

Hi, my name is Franck Tetreau and as you already all know, I will be working on this new project to bring Tanos in the USA.
I need to clarify that I am not here to sell to the industry but to look for other venue.
If any of you are looking for systainer for personal use that is not available to the Festool USA line, let me know so that if I get a lots of request, I will do some type of promotion with Festool. The idea of bringing the systainer to the USA, is to create a demand to other product manufacturer from different industries.
Here is some Q&A, let me know if you have more for me to clarify.

Q. Are you going to stock in the USA/Canada?
A. No, I am only selling large quantity to product manufacturer or dealers that like to resale the product in quantity. But again my first objective is to sell by container to large company to put their product inside like Festool.

Q. I like to buy one or two systainer that Tanos in Germany is making, how can I buy them?
A. Unfortunately, I am not selling direct.  You can buy it in Europe! Or if I open a US distributer that will retail the systainer then you will be able to purchase them thru that distributer.

Q. I am interested to be a distributer? What need to be done? Who can I sell it to?
A. You will need to contact me. To be a distributer, you need to buy large quantity (Container), it is not for everyone. I am mostly looking out of the power tool industry.
If you sell to medical, photography, electronic, fishing, etcetera that is what I am looking for. For woodworking Festool distributer is available nation wide.

Q. I am a Festool dealer and like to sell Tanos as well because Tanos as more chose.
A. My recommendation is concentrate in Festool and Festool Systainer. I guaranty you, and you haven?t reached your full potential. Ask your RSM to get you the full line in your store. If you wish to get a systainer that is not available to the States, let your RSM know. We could come out with more systainer promotions.

Let me know if you have any more question.

Franck

Thanks for the explanation Franck.  I am dissapointed with your answer, but I understand.  Good luck with your endeavour!

Hi Frank,

I believe if you bring inserts for systeiners first you'll increase sales for Festool systainers. All Festool tools already live in systainers, so I don't need more systainers for them, but many tools from different manufactures live in carton boxes or bins.
4.5? grinder ? needs Tanos insert AND Festool type  II systainer.
4x24 belt sander ? needs insert AND Festool type III systainer
Dremel ? needs sortainer
Rotozip ? needs ?.
Fein-Multimaster ? needs insert AND Festool type II systainer.
Assorted boxes for Type IV systainer? need Type IV systainer.
Cartrige insert....

But if you are against to keep non-Festool tools in Festool?s systainers?..
Sorry, that's reality.  :)

If you include a couple boxes of inserts for systainers in your next shipment from Europe it won't cost you a lot. Just a few hundred dollars more for inserts and $10-20 for shipping?  But consider that each insert will bring more sales on FESTOOL systainers. Now we are talking about container like quantity for FESTOOL?s systainers.

P.S. Yes, that's definitely cool to have systainer in different colors (Bosch's dark blue/green with red latches), but we won't see them soon.  :(

Thanks,

Victor

I'm sure glad it was only a close call that they were going to be distributing in the U.S.  I couldn't stand going another round with Frank on these things.    :)  Frank you know I'm only kidding...  :)

Chris...

Good day Gents,

I know some of you are disappointed.
It's going to be a slow approach to the market but I am not telling you that you won't be able to get your hands on some cool product.
I just want to be sure that Festool is first to serve your needs. And I will work on source of distribution to be sure you get those item not available at this time.
It is on your hand to communicate to your dealer what item you would like to see in the USA and I will work with Festool on new promotions.
My first objective is to serve other industry need, but I will do my best to launch Systainer to complite your Festool collection  ;)

Systainer from RAS-115  fits well most of 4 1/2" grinders and grinding disks. You can order Systainer 2 (P/N 445434) with systainer insert for RAS-115 (P/N 448082).  Insert is replacement part and is not listed in the catalog. This part cost $7 before 2/1/09.  That was hard to explain to dealer what do you really want. I waited mine insert for more than month because of various misunderstandings, and finally I've got it.
