I have pretty major workshop conversion going on as i think i have mentioned a couple times? Think a 20ft long built in miter station made out of mahogany, teak, birdseye and MDF with systaport style drawers for systainers and regular drawers for various other hand type tools.

Following the completion of the built in miter station will be another 11ft adjoining bench with more systport style drawers again with more traditional drawers underneath for various hand tools. The top will be made of laminated pine 2x6 and the base again with mahogany teak and birdseye. This bench will also have a Veritas twin screw. I have not shared pictures as i want to wait till i have a finished product oil varnish and all. Im still many many man hours away from that.

Today i had a couple minutes to screw around but only a couple as i have been busy with a rather large built in project. I am loving all my new festools however i have found a few minor kinks that need working out. One is the hose to the CT running over the edges of my work. The ceiling of my workshop is tall enough for a CT mounted boom arm but i have various obstructions like duct work that make using a CT mounted boom arm impossible.

This is what i came up with. It also will need some refinement but this is a good start. Just some unistrut a trolley and a scrap piece of 3/4 plywood and about 45 minutes of my time...

The unistrut is a GREAT idea!

I might have to copy that - or at least be inspired by it. I have a chunk of unistrut AND a trolley out in the shop somewhere...

I like it.

Make the hose holder swivel under the trolley and you'd be getting close to perfect.

I thought about the swivel. I may or may not add one. Really i just need to search McMaster Carr for one.

The original idea was multiple trollies spaced every two or so feet along the hose. The thought was this would keep the CT side of the hose elevated also. I quickly realized the hoses are not quite flexible enough for that. Part of that design idea was that i could also push the hose all the way to the wall side of the unistrut when not in use. This was realistically a pipe dream.

I think the next step is a really really long hose held up on the Ct or wall side by a fixed u bolt hanger type thing with a roller along the bottom side of it the the hose can slide through back and forth but will keep the hose off the work surface. McCmaster Carr has these and i almost ordered one when i got all this stuff.

Im also going to get one of the fabric hose covers with a zipper that keeps the cord in it. Maybe two one for each of my most used power cords?

And yes so far this is pretty i expensive.. Add those fabric hose covers and it gets back in Festool crazy expensive territory.

Couple more angles without giving away the good stuff i have been working on.

That trolley arrangement looks pretty cool. I have thought of that, but i have too many ceiling obstructions. I have put hooks up into the overhead joists and use bungeys where ever needed.  I tried using the boom for two or three years, but with a low ceiling, ductwork in the way and no space to move my CT around, it was more problem than the problems solved.  The boom is resting against a wall in the barn for now.  The bungies work much better for me.
