This was too cool for me not to share!  The install is with a 2200 but the hinge itself is incredible.

I've fitted them before , soss hinges but they weren't adjustable like those ones.

I like the way he uses the most expensive router you can buy but then screws it in with what looks like the cheapest drill you could buy ;D:D:D:D

nice looking hindges
that drill does look like the cheapest you could buy

Sometimes you wonder what progress is good for. €80 for the cheapest Tectus 3D hinge while a good old fashioned hinge only costs €3 and does the job just as good.

I recently installed two big jobs full of very large doors with the simonswerk hinges and found them to be amazing. Truly a mark of progress actually, I hope to never use a regular soss hinge again.  As far as price being an issue they are certainly not for every job, but to say cheaper non adjustable  hinges work as well is not really accurate. Anyone that has had to unhang a door to shim out or deepen mortises on soss hinges knows my pain.  The time saved and results produced with these hinges made me a convert.  The same could be said of almost all things festool- really expensive but the time saved and results produced easily make them worthwhile.

So how'd he mortice the hinge in the door lining/frame ? that hinge jig looks expensive too.

I bet that mortising guide cost a small fortune. It would be worth it if all you did was install doors using that style hinge. But that doesnt happen. Every job uses a different one.

Templaco makes single pocket templates for these hinges.  They are on their website under concealed hinges.  They would probably make full length multi-pocket if that's what you need. They are designed to use a 1/2" bit with 5/8" guide so there is no need to buy metric bits or guides.  Normally I make all my own hardware templates but for metric round end hardware it is worth it to buy.

Pretty cool video...I too chuckled at the router, hinge template and cheap drill...

Looks a cheap drill but look like it says panasonic on the side

Look full screen at 2:32, it says Hanseatic on the side, a cheap German brand. Apperantly doesn't exists anymore.

I don't get why people make such a fuzz about the drill.

It puts screws in there for it is fit for purpose. Folk get too hung up on buying festool
