I opted to buy 6 inch Abranet discs for my new ETS-EC 150 along with the Granat Net interface protectors.  I didn’t have the extra pennies in the budget this month to drop $500 dollars to buy a full range of Granat discs for the summer projects.

I was able to buy a mixed bundle of Abranet discs from Lee Valley with grits ranging from 80 to 320 versus dropping $80 per a box for Granat.

I guess we’ll see how this goes.  The Abranet and Granat NET are pretty much the same thing.  I would hope the Granat NET protector would do an equally good job holding onto Abranet paper.

Really, I would have purchased Granat if you get a box of 10.  It would take forvever to use 50 or 100 sheets of 320 Granat.  $500 bucks buys a lot of hardwood for projects.

I’ll be interested in your evaluation as recently I made the same purchase. I bought the new Festool pad and net interface pads along with Mirka net for the EC 150. Thought I’d use it on drywall in the same way you used a pole sander and 3M black net sheet abrasives.

Even boxes of 20 discs would be easier to swallow than boxes of 50 or 100 discs.

Over here you can buy Abranet in "test packages" of 10 sheets. Mirka official cardboard box and all. But they cost about €17.50 vs €55 or so for a box of 50.

Been using Abranet for 3 years and love it!. Bought some Granat net to try, initial reaction with a few pieces is that the Abranet seems more aggressive for the same grit.

Haven't done anything extremely fine to see if the Granat has a finer finish though.

The biggest test will be edge sanding.  I’m building a storage cabinet inside my Incra router table with plywood.  I’m curious to see how the Abranet will hold up on edge sanding with plywood.
