Here is a hearty thank you  [thanks] [thanks] [thanks] for all the members who take the time and effort to let us know about spam when it pops up on the forum.  Although there are certain protections in place, as the forum grows in popularity the appeal of posting spam here will also increase.

The picture must be Christmas in the Marcel home - gosh life is tough in Arizona!

The Monty Python sketch is brilliant and reminds many of us about the difficulties in the UK in the 50s and 60s. Spam came from the US and was a much needed and appreciated form of protein.

Oh heck yeah! And, look! It's 'lite' so you can eat twice as much!  nom nom nom

A guamanian restaurant opened close to work; they had a half menu full of Spam dishes.  It closed up soon after it opened; too bad, I wanted to try the Spam.

I slice spam into 5mm slices and smoke them on my Traeger wood pellet grill for about 1/2 hour @250F.  They are really good!  Even better in a BLTS sandwich.  (Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato & Spam.)  Don't forget the Mayonnaise.

Sounds good, Alex, but I'll make mine with "light" Mayo.  Gotta keep it healthy. [big grin]

First  ..... 5mm? ..... really ? ..........   Kapex?  [unsure]

Second ......    AWESOME  Idea !!!!   I have a can on the shelf and a Traeger on the deck.  LUNCH.    ;D

Maybe some Traeger grilled toast too.

The marvelous economy of '08 killed more than a few jobs. It also killed an almost 30-year tradition, the Pandemonious Potted Pork Festival, SPAMARAMA.

I guess we don't have anything on Hawaii anymore...

A Smokin' brother!!!  Woo-hoo!!!  You need to try Head Country Championship rub on your next rack of ribs.  http://www.headcountry.com/  Great sauce, too.

I took my Lil' Tex Elite on vacation with me, cooking in 3 states for family & friends.  I accidentally sold about 6 grills for them.  I should be in the business.  http://www.traegergrills.com/

Ok, so I actually did the Spam thing.... it was really good!

OK.  Just got back from the grocery store with among other food a can of - you guessed it - SPAM.  Oh well, I will have to try it with a somewhat open mind.  Gulp.

I am not going to fire up the big smoker, maybe just the electric one.  Or the Bubba Keg.  Or the ...  Or the ...

It is strange how people can gain an aversion to foods due to over consumption.  Other Peter mentioned the necessity of SPAM after WWII in warn torn Europe.  After my father got out of an internment camp in South Africa a year after WW II ended, the cheapest protein was canned lobster.  After leaving South Africa in the mid 1950's on his way to the United States he never ate lobster of any kind ever again.

So are you saying you have never eaten Spam?

Heck you can even get bacon flavored Spam, but I didn't think it added much.

Spam Lite has always seemed like an oxymoron to me.   [blink]  If you are concerned with it being light , perhaps not eating it at all would make more sense  ???

For more info and a list of flavors http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spam_(food)

Spam and eggs can be amazing if you use syrup instead of eggs and swap in a waffle for the spam.  [tongue]
