This is a coffee table I designed and built using most all of my Festool tools and my Shaper Origin.

I inlaid a walnut slab into a butcher block and made the legs out of 5/4 walnut with the Shaper Origin.

I call it "The Flipper" because I designed it so the legs can be either of two ways just by flipping them upside down.

It's finished with Rubio Monocoat Pure.

Let me know which way you prefer!

I like it and the reversible design. I like the second picture more simply because it is a different layout than typical. Nice use of sapwood, too. Keep thinking it would have made a nice effect to have a ridge of sapwood on the top edge of the stretchers.

Have to admit that when I read "flipper" coffee table, I expected a humorous table with bad joints, caulk, and sloppy white paint job like flipper houses

The one in the first (top) photo because I wouldn't want the stretchers/base to be stepped on when people extend their legs over it.

If it isn't going to be used as a coffee table, but, say, as an accent table, a sofa table (behind the sofa) or a hall table for lamps, displays, etc., the bottom design may be fine.

It kind of gives me the Foureyes Furniture vibe, the legs, at least. That's not a bad thing in any way, I quite like that style. The loose top and overturning the legs is a great addition.
Do you have pockets routed under the top to register the top?

That's funny [member=3513]PaulMarcel[/member]  I was thinking more like a bar-top flip up gate type thing, but maybe that's just because I run into those, with some regularity, in my work.

Beautiful work, they're both really nice, but I like the top one better. The bottom one to me looks like it needs a shelf.

Great build!

This table would be a lot of fun for some party tricks. You can see which of your friends are inebriated and not by having them leave the room and come back and see if they can spot the difference.  😂

Thanks!

I've posted the question on a bunch of groups and chats, and the preferences are split almost perfectly 50/50, which, to me, is about as big of a compliment as I could get!

Fantastic work.  I love the design.  I prefer the configuration in the second photo.  Where did you source the adjustable feet?

Agreed, very cool work!  I also get a Foureyes vibe from it.  I think I might like the second orientation best, same as [member=3075]sawdustinmyshoes[/member].
