Well, I know I asked for opinions on the next tool and went completely in the other direction… but due to the series of events (I sold off my bench top router table) I ended up with this:

Got it all put together and ran out of daylight so I didn't even get to fire it up.  I'll be up at the crack of dawn to wrap things up and take it for a test drive and snap some more photos!

Cheers!

I could look at your tool porn all day. Great shots as usual.

Oh and congrats on the CMS!

Don, thanks!  Just when I thought that I post too many photos, or when I feel no body cares!  Well, tomorrow's sun should yield some fun exposures!

One day I'll contribute more to this forum than my images, sometimes I feel like a leech begging for answers with nothing to reciprocate.

Dear man!!!

For you it is not clear whether you prefer the most awesome machines from Festool or taking a picture.
But your work is great. When I see the forum post from you, I have a better day.

All the best to you.

[smile] [smile] [wink]

Can you come take some pictures in MY shop? I'll bet you could even make MY mess look good!

Alkaline, thank you!  I'm flattered to hear that my images brighten your day!

I'm sure everyone would like to see some projects also. Keep photos coming.

Don, is this my reminder to get images up?!

Well, as promised… more images of the CMS-VL.  I had a small snag in the assembly, well, not really assembly but one of the "cushions" had to be modified slightly.  Upon the tightening of the CMS insert, it started to bind on the vinyl/acrylic pad/cushion.  I called Festool parts and they were quick to help, needless to say, there are two in the mail!

I routed a bunch of scrap and cutoffs ranging from MDF, pine, red oak, and walnut and all without hesitation and for the most part dust!  What an awesome, awesome setup.  Also, everything that you've heard about the sliding table is true… it's as smooth as glass!

Nice pics Eric. You will love the VL. I have had mine for about 6 months and love it. I know there are many who say the GE is a better setup but for me, the VL + MFT + Incra LS + Precision Plate make an extremely awesome setup.

Enjoy mate!  Bryan.

You managed to make the CMS look a little more sexy for me….the wife hates you….but I thank you!

EXCELLENT PHOTOS!

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Bryan!  I was originally considering the GE but I've been following your posts about the above combo and felt that with the Incra fence, it will be a combo that's hard to beat!  Also, the fact that I have zero intentions of being mobile made the VL a better fit.  As soon as I recoup from the VL and learn a bit more I'll pony up for the Incra LS Positioner and plate.

Eric, the CMS as with other Festool tools sure do photograph well!  Not to say they're ugly, but I often caught myself doing a double take as I was importing the images, saying: "I don't remember it looking like that through the viewfinder?!"  Maybe the wives can get together and discuss our obsession over theses wonderful tools!  And you're quite welcome and THANK YOU!

Cheers,
Eric

Festool should hire you I think they would sell more tools.  I've seen pics of this many times but these make me want it.  Your killing me(my bank account).

Im wondering why it is so clean?

Sorry, couldnt resist

jobsworth, that's because it's new!  I have a very hard time binging out my cameras when there is dust of any kind; I simply can't afford them to be dirty.  I only bring the cameras and lights and other kit bits before or after the beginning or settling of dust.  On another note, there was still very little dust/chip on the table even after routing so experimental passes.  I'd be more than happy to add images of dust if you'd like!  [tongue]

I also went and procured a few new Freud bits to add to my collection, even some I didn't even need.

Don, again, thanks for the warm words!  I wonder how many Festool tools I can help sell?!  I'd love to be able to have a partnership with Festool.  It is a company I admire for their product, ingenuity and business model.  Only time will tell if this presents it's self as an opportunity!  Again, thank you!

Eric,

What part of nova are you in?  I am in Reston this week for work. My HQ is there.

Bryan,

I'm in Aldie, Reston is very close (by NoVa standards). Let's meet up, or you can come over for a beer or two!  Maybe you can teach me how to better use my tools!
