The Trion is Dead?

I think that currently is 204316 for 5 blades
Thanks for that @Coen 🙏 I purchased most of these Festool blades at least 12 years ago when Festool was doing a promotion package. After I read your comment I checked and Festool has indeed changed all of the part numbers on the jig saw blades. Here's a web save from 2011.

The interesting part is that the blades I purchased have over the years steadily moved through multiple jigsaw Systainers...the Trion...the Carvex and now the P1cc.

And I still have a few blades left. :)

Check out the blade prices...not that much different for a 14 year time frame. :)

How far can you go? If more than a foot you have an exceptional saw.
I have several jigsaws including the Trion and Mafell and the blade simply isn’t close enough to parallel to the base to allow the cut to continue very far.

When I tried track cutting with the Mafell I didn’t use a heavy set blade. I’ll try again with the gold blade Cheese called out but if you have to use a coarse blade it kinda (sometimes) defeats the purpose.
I agree, I've tried jig saw cutting on a Festool rail with the Trion while using a Trion blade...it went south very fast. Then again I was pushing the cut which I now know was stupid.

I will revisit this situation again as there is a definite need for this capability in the field. I'll probably use a Mafell P1cc with the W1 blade on a Festool rail and just let the saw do the work...no pushing on my part. We'll see what the results are. :)

I can't for the life of me believe that if a jigsaw is just left to do what it does and the blade is stiff enough...that it won't increase the kerf width on its own and regain its straight-line direction.

Blades where the teeth aren't wider than the body... will never go back to straight if the jigsaw is a guide rail adapter.

I've done long cuts no problem with the Trion and guide rail. Need to set the pendulum action to maximum and the thinner the material you are cutting... the better.

Just like with a bandsaw, if you are cutting thick material, you need "more gullet" to be able to clear the chips and dust from the cut line. For this particular type of tool, that necessitates using the coarser blade style with fewer teeth spaced wider apart. Honestly, the original reason I bought the Trion in the mid-2000s was because it was pretty darn good at keeping the blade/cut line perpendicular. It's certainly not a "perfect" but it's within my expectations. An edge can then be cleaned up by other means such as pattern routing.

Well, I am just leaving Hingham Lumber in Hingham, Massachusetts and they have at least one PS300. 2021 build in a SYS3. This is the display model. It looks clean and they said that if that’s the last one, they would sell it. And I think the MSRP is $315.

Better call them now and grab it up!
Thanks, @onocoffee. I am going to check some local dealers and see if I am lucky - yes, I have done that in the past with success. Canada still has a few dealers with stock, FWIW for any Canadian users.
