I just bought a MM3 to use on an upcoming job - two large builtins with a white painted finish.  In the past I've used Target's tinted white lacquer.  The sample that was given to me of the existing cabinetry has a Dunn Edwards product, I'm assuming it is their Aristowall line.  I have the #5 cap (1.8) for the MM3 and I'm wondering how much I'll have to thin the paint in order to get it spray well.  I plan on doing a lot of testing but was hoping to get some feedback from those of you that have the gun and have used it to spray paint.

When you say paint, are you talking latex?  You mentioned lacquer, the 1mm tip is perfect for a. Tinted lacquer.  Latex you're going to need a much larger tip, maybe double that size.  The rule of thumb is thin %10 as a starting point.

Which gun are you using?

The 1.0 won't do what you want to do at cup pressure.

Look into a 2 quart pressure pot. Getting the fluid to the nozzle/air cap is what matters.

Thinning is my last resort.
