Hey everybody.
I'm new to Festool and even newer to this site.

I started out with getting a Festool TS 75 and a MFT 800. I have a really small shop where every square foot counts. By using the TS 75 as my main saw, I found that I finally had room for a drill press. Before Festool, I had to choose between either a good saw setup or a drill press, now I have room for both.
Recently I took the Festool plunge and got an MFT 1080, an OF 1400, and the RO 125 sander. Man these are some serious tools.
The thing is, I probably would not have been so brave as to spend the money on these tools without the positive feedback I'd gotten here at FOG.
I have read many great posts and articles as well as info and practical tips for Festool owners and woodworkers in general.
Thank you all so much for all of your contributions here.
Hopefully, in time, maybe I can contribute a thing or two for the next guy.
Just wanted to let you know.

Greg

Welcome Greg,
Sounds like you're "walking with your feet ten feet offa Beale" ;D

Regards,

Rob

Festool is a "true companion" (thought I would chime in as long as we are on a Marc Cohn theme!).  Congratulations Memphis Man!  Indeed there is an Achtung Dude! for you.

I enjoyed the post.

Let me chime in too. This site is a great help. I wish groups like this existed for more product lines. I too am a recent Festool owner, and the main reason for that is this site. Sure I saw the tools at Woodworkers shows and lusted for them, but the price was scarey. Nobody was doing a demo. The funny looking Green Tools just sat there with their scarey price tags.

Then friend emailed me and told me he bought a TS-55 and raved about it. So, because I had a need for a better way to cut panels, I started shopping and I ran across this site. Here I found legitimate detailed reviews, unlike the biased opinions and thoughtless blather you find on newsgroups. Here you get opinions from people who are obviously experts, links to videos, and just a wealth of valuable information from people who just want to help you. There are even dealers posting here and monitoring the site that aren't pushing to sell you something. They want to help, and if you buy something from them, great!

I know it's not much, but, in the last month, I bought over $1400 worth of Festool products. I never would have done without the help and information I received from this site. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who has made a decision to buy a Festool product based on what they've learned here. This site is the best advertisement Festool has and ever will have, and they should thank all you great people for what you are doing for them. And they'd better pay close attention to what these people are saying. End of my blather. Thanks everyone.

I took the plunge off the green cliff about 3 years ago but felt stranded. The folks at the local Woodcraft are friendly but not particularly knowledgeable about Festool especially regarding any sort of advanced usage. I found the old FOG site about a year ago and now feel like I have companions on the cliff. Any questions I have are promptly, courteously and correctly answered from a variety of tool users of differing abilities and different professions with a variety of perspectives. This makes that shared knowledge all the more valuable. And special thanks to Matthew who seems to be improving the site by leaps and bounds on an almost daily basis. :)

Greg,
Welcome to the world of Festool!

Of course, I'm thrilled that this forum has been so helpful to you, as that is what I strive for and that's what makes all the effort worthwhile.  My goal has always been to have an informative forum, with a growing amount of information, but to make sure it remains customer-driven and honest about the tools.

You should feel free to contribute right away!  Post photos of your first projects, and describe your first uses of the tools.  Ask questions about anything you need to learn about the tools.

Thank you again,
Matthew
