It is no secret that I owned several OF1010 and one OF2200 before the OF1400 was available in the USA.

You do mean the OF2200's predecessor, the OF2000E, don't you?

Corwin, you could very well be correct. I was not referencing my business records when I wrote the subject post. Probably I did purchase the OF2000E first. My memory is that I like using it/ I do not recall any difficulty transitioning to the OF2200, which did add many marvelous features. I no longer have that OF2000E. Once I was sure about the OF2200 I donated the older one to a school wood shop.

What I did get correct is that long before I bought an OF1400 I was very experienced using routers weighing less and weighing more. Those other routers had less power and some had more power. In my use each of the others had one or several specialties. Some of my MFK700 and OF1010 are set up for specific tasks, while others are held in reserve.

I have used the OF1400 enough to recognize it as being versatile. If I were starting to accumulate enough woodworking tools to be productive probably the OF1400 would be my first router. The point I was making is that in my own experience by the time I owned an OF1400 I already owned other routers that did every task I do frequently more effectively than the OF1400. Still, I keep my OF1400 ready to use. Who knows, maybe tomorrow I will need to try a different approack on a project and the OF1400 will prove to be the ideal tool.
